love it - Arianna Smile this is for the DD4 that I'll never get Envy Arianna Kitty

Hi

It is a lovely name! I think if it is italian if there is a double N in it changes the way you say it a little. eg the anna is more stressed than ana but both spellings look very nice :)

rachxx · 20/12/2010 20:51

Oh yeah- would you pronouce Ari-anna or
Ari-are-na??

weimy · 20/12/2010 20:57

I believe it is the first way, in italian you basically say it how it is spelt and the a has an a(pple) sound rather than are. I could be wrong I am only upto GCSE level :)

weimy · 20/12/2010 20:58

But then you can pronounce it however you want!!

rachxx · 20/12/2010 21:06

Its good to know what others read it as. Otherwise she may have to orrect it all her life!

I love Arianna. Very pretty and feminine Smile

KittyTwoShoes · 20/12/2010 22:12

Very sweet :) I'd pronounce it Ari-are-na if I saw it but if you corrected me I would think, "Oh, silly me," rather than, "Why's she pronouncing it like that?" if that makes sense!

Jojay · 20/12/2010 22:14

Pretty name - there's one at nursery pronounced Ari-are-na but I'm not sure how it is spelt.

rachxx · 20/12/2010 22:15

lol Kitty, I get what you mean :)

I just need to find a middle name that fits with it now...ahhhh

KITTY!!!

Aryana is also a Persian name meaning "of the Aryan race" (the Aryans came from what is now Iran). It's a lovely name.

SecretSantatoCaptCaveman · 20/12/2010 23:37

I would read ariana as a-re-anna

twinkletoesxmas · 21/12/2010 22:08

rachxx · 21/12/2010 22:20

Good luck, hope she arrives soon, love your names on your list. We have a Tiana, toyed with the Tianna version but went with Tiana

PressureDrop · 22/12/2010 19:30

Either spelling is fine. It's a lovely name.

tebbles · 23/12/2010 12:27

I would pronounce Arianna as 'Arry-anna' (Like Harry)

and Ariana as 'Ah-ree-ah-na'.

I see them as 2 different names.
