Lila?

This was my Grandmother's name and I love it! But some people have made comments about it being too flowery/outdated. Other names we're considering are Madeleine,Isobel, Jessica and Catherine/Katherine?

I like Lilia. Lila is too close to Lilo for my liking! Also like Lilian and Lilith (although the associations for the latter aren't too pleasant!).

Lilia Catherine would be rather nice.

Yes I thought of Lilo too!

How about Lily?

Lila is lovely.

a friend of mine wants it for her baby if it's a girl (also a grandmother's name!)

isn't Kate Moss's little girl called Lila?

doesn't make me think of lilo because it's pronounced Lilla rather than Lyla isn't it??

BibiBelle · 20/12/2010 20:47

makes me think of Lilo Lil from bread Grin

I prefer Lillia but Lila is quite nice too.
I didn't think it was outdated - Kate Moss's daughter is Lila Grace.
Didn't know it was pronounced Lilla though?? Confused

Edmundo · 20/12/2010 22:05

Lila is usually pronounced Lyla. I think it's ok but I much prefer Lily.

BibiBelle · 20/12/2010 22:21

what about Lillith or Lillian?

thisisyesterday · 21/12/2010 12:59

ahh well the only one I know of (friend's grandmother) is pronounced Lilla

but clearly she is an anomaly Grin

Firawla · 21/12/2010 14:21

I dont think its outdated at all i thought it was quite popular these days. I know a baby lila and heard of a few others, and never crossed my mind that it was out dated. I think its really nice

Edmundo · 21/12/2010 15:58

Very trendy, not out-dated at all.

Ephiny · 21/12/2010 16:07

I think it's nice. I like Leila as well, though you may get all kinds of different pronunciations (Lee-la, Lay-la, Ly-la etc!)

Nightstar · 21/12/2010 22:10

I totally agree with Ephiny. How would you be pronouncing it? You would be safer with Leila, or Layla, but if it is a family name then dont mess, keep as is x
