All in all nothing truly outstanding and nothing traditionally Scottish really. My great-grandmother, once widowed, did have an affair with one of the Liptons (of the tea people) and my father can remember her owning a huge tea urn - I bet she did!

They were

Phoebe & James (Jim)
Elizabeth (Bette) & Harold (Harry)

Ivegotmrbitey · 21/12/2010 13:43

They are Fred and Sheila and were George and Eirlys. I love the name Eirlys and as it was also husband's grandmother's name it is a strong contender if we have a girl.

florilegia · 21/12/2010 23:23

Neil and Catherine (known as Cathie)
Norman and Caroline

Wierdly, it's only at this moment that I've realised both couples had the same initials!

I don't know about grandparents, but on the Scottish side, I had great aunts called Donaldina, Johnina and Duncanina (evidently the MacLeod way was to think of a name for a boy, and then just add "-ina" to the end if a girl happened to emerge Hmm)
