GPs are
Reg (Reginald) and Peggy (Margaret)
Mabel and Tom

GGPs
Winnie (Winifred) and Wilf (Wilfred)

I love the idea of using Reg if we are lucky enough to need a name for a wee boy but DH is convinced it is only useful for naming tortoises - not that we have a need for tortoise names.

Mumbybumby · 19/12/2010 21:48

GPs:
Kathleen and William
John and May

Not too bad names - I have both GMs for middle names and my brother has both GFs.

HelenaRose · 19/12/2010 22:31

Sidney and Irene (known by their middle names: Frederick and Elizabeth)
James and Joan

I can see why Fred and Lizzie were keen to dispense of their given names!

AnnOnimous · 19/12/2010 22:48

Allan - would have been happy to use, but other relatives got in their first.
Elizabeth - gave DS a variation as a middle name.
John - too plain for me, but non offensive
Jane - as above.

So, generally, not a dated bunch at all, despite, that they still been alive, a collective age of nearly 400!

MeowyChristmasEveryone · 19/12/2010 22:51

Colin & Mildred (Millie)
Cornelius (known by middle name Frederick - Fred) & Doris

Knew both my nanna's mum's but they were distinguished in our house by their surnames - Gran Bailey (Dad's gran) and Nan Harrison (Mum's)

Nan Harrison passed away on the day the Falklands War started.

Paternal: Patricia and Lawrence/Kevin. Lawrence was his birth name but his adoptive parents changed his name to Kevin shortly after his adoption aged 6.

Maternal: Beatrice/Phyllis and John. Beatrice was her first name but she always went by her middle name, Phyllis. I never understood why and never got to ask. I thought Phyllis was her first name until I found a letter addressed to her shortly after her death.
