I love this as a nickname but not as a proper name. I can only think of it being short for Alice or Alexandra (not too keen on this one).

I love it as a nm for Alice or Alison. Not so much for Alexandra as I'm not that keen on Alex

Sorry, but you can't give the nn Ali to anybody other than an Alison IMO (Alice perhaps, at a push)

If you like Ali, just call her Ali (just not Allie or Ally)

ChippingIn · 19/12/2010 00:27

Think of something else Grin

Blackeyeddog · 19/12/2010 02:24

I like Aily (think Welsh)

ShoppingDays · 19/12/2010 08:12

How about Abigail, with Abi for short?

meandjoe · 19/12/2010 13:56

Arrgh I'm an Abigail and always wanted to change it to Allie or Amy! I love Allie. I don't think it has to be short for something. If u like it just use it as a full name. Could also be short for Alicia, alyssia.

Fuddymunster · 19/12/2010 15:11

Natalie or Natalia

Firawla · 19/12/2010 19:03

Ali is very boyish to me, if its for a girl I think Allie is better otherwise risks being mistaken all the time for a boy.
