There are some names which I've been quite surprised to see returning. For example, Edith was my granny's name. Much as I loved her, I was never keen on the name and can only presume the little Ediths now arriving are due to the Radio 1 DJ or something.

Are there any names which would surprise you if they were revived? For me, the list might include:

Girls

Doris
Ermyntrude
Gertrude

Boys

Arnold
Herbert
Roderick

Just thought. My Mum knew umpteen Valeries (well, 3, to be honest). I'd be surprised if that came back anytime soon though (although I do sort of like it, if the truth be known).

Eunice - bet that one never makes a comeback!
Nor Cecil.
Nor Gaye... I can't imagine any baby Beryls or Hyacinths either.

I do know a Derek and a Maureen both under 10 years old. And a Geraldine and an Archibald. I also know an Ivy...

I haven't heard of any baby Ruths for a long time, though it's a lovely classic name.
And I love the name Gilbert (couldn't have it due to surname issues).

Gretchen or Prudence.

and I hope that Tracey and Sharon die out. And Lorraine for that matter. I hate names that date.

I want to laugh every time I hear Audrey. It's just so not 2010.

Moron.

bahrainbabe · 18/12/2010 20:21

Denise? My name and I hate it.
Margaret..
Annette
Chardonnay and all the popular made up 90's names

I prefer 'old' names to the made up ones that are popular today..my pet hate is the wrong spelling of a name.

LifeForRent · 18/12/2010 20:22

ha ha ha spinny that is so funny. Bless you.
