Like Louis a lot.

Have never come across Dayle and on first impression it seems a little weird to me. Wouldn't be sure have to pronounce it - to rhyme with male?

panettoinydog · 17/12/2010 19:04

Louis. No question. It's a good name.

Dayle is not good

KenDoddsDadsDogEatsTinsel · 17/12/2010 19:09

Louis definitely.

EauRudolph · 17/12/2010 19:13

Louis. Really don't like Dayle.

joydivisionovengloves · 17/12/2010 19:16

Louis. Dayle is not nice at all.

MobyDick · 17/12/2010 19:17

Louis. You pronounce that 'lou-ey' right? That is a cool name.

LeakMyWiki · 17/12/2010 19:18

Louis.

Only Louis. It must be Louis Wink

expectingno3 · 17/12/2010 19:31

They're such different names IMO. Dayle just reminds me of Dale Winton of Supermarket Sweep fame. Louis is a great name.

suwoo · 17/12/2010 19:32

Louis. No question.

gegs73 · 17/12/2010 19:32

Another one for Louis

BelligerentYhoULE · 17/12/2010 19:33

I don't mind Dale and think it has a sort of 70s charm - but Dayle looks silly.

ShoppingDays · 17/12/2010 19:41

Louis.

If you're going to choose Dayle I would spell it Dale.

Edmundo · 18/12/2010 00:18

I'm shocked that someone has the two names on the same list! They are so different.

Louis is by far the nicest.

cece · 18/12/2010 00:20

I quite like Dale, but think Dayle looks weird.

Louis is OK but there are far too many around imo.

montysorry · 18/12/2010 00:24

No contest.

Louis is a lovely name. Dayle looks and sounds ridiculous. Sounds like you like Dale but thought it would be cool to add letter/change spelling. In which case, this really isn't the forum for such support.

cece · 18/12/2010 00:28

Just had a thought - how about sort of combining the two and name him Lyle/Lisle Smile

usualsuspect · 18/12/2010 00:30

Louis

KittyBigglesworth · 18/12/2010 01:51

Not sure about Dayle; I can completely understand Gayle for a girl as it is a diminutive of Abigayil/Abigail/Abigal. I prefer Gael, as in the actor, Gael Garcia, for a boy if you want to give a similar sounding name. Guy, Gyles/Giles, Gabriel (Gabe), are along the same lines too. If you like a name beginning with D, perhaps David, Dai or Douglas.

Louis is pleasant although I am not so keen on Lewis because it reminds me of someone from the 80s wearing slip-on shoes and a lemon coloured jumper.

Trishjvr · 18/12/2010 09:47

Thanks for your comments ladies, Louis it is then :-)
My husband's name is:
Daniel Louis van Zyl Janse van Rensburg
His father's name was Louis and to try shorten the name he combined Daniel and Zyl to get Dayle. That's where the names came from.

Thanks again
