A new name we are considering is Hector. We also like Hugo and Otto but I'm really liking Hector today!

Brothers are Noah, Finlay & Oscar.

Do you like it? And with brothers?

I love your other names, but not Hector, no. People will call him Heck

BelligerentYhoULE · 15/12/2010 20:19

I love it - go for it! Much nicer than the other two.

I think Horace may be due a revivial too.

usualsuspect · 15/12/2010 20:19

Hector is awful ...sorry, I love your other names though

deepfriedcupcake · 15/12/2010 20:20

Always double check Thomas the Tank Engine books - could easily end up getting called 'Hector the Horrid'.

I quite like Hugo.

LynetteScavo · 15/12/2010 20:20

Hector and Hugo are my 2 favourite boys names, and I have a DS with the same name as one of yours.

I also love Otto.

Hector is a brilliant name, go for it!

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 15/12/2010 20:21

The only hector I know is a arrogant pig.

Clouds my judgement sorry

LynetteScavo · 15/12/2010 20:21

The little Hectors I've met have been extremely cute!

DD2 was going to be Hector if she had been DS. It is my most favourite boys name.

Thissideofchannel · 15/12/2010 20:42

Do you know what to hector means? That would put me off the name, to be honest.

LOVE Hector....!

In fact I love all you're baby names...!!!

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 15/12/2010 20:47

hector verb (disapproving) to talk and behave towards someone in a loud and unpleasantly forceful way, especially in order to get them to act or think as you want them to.

Definitely go for something else!

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 15/12/2010 20:47

Oops! X-posts Grin

auntyfash · 15/12/2010 20:48

I love the name Hector! If you like the name, then does it really matter what it means?

rachel234 · 15/12/2010 20:49

The meaning of Hector as well as the silly nicknames (Heck?) would put me off.

exexpat · 15/12/2010 20:51

I know a couple of reception-aged Hectors (cute but lively) so I'm guessing it is getting more popular again. The only other Hector I knew was a Welsh farmer who would now be in his 90s....

tammytoby · 15/12/2010 20:54

Really dislike Hector. The meaning doesn't help, I guess.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 15/12/2010 23:17

Love it. DH not so keen, sadly.

AllieW · 16/12/2010 10:01

Not overly keen. There was a horrible character in a Midsomer Murders episode with the name.

There is this, though, I suppose: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector%27s_House

3nearly4 · 16/12/2010 10:58

Thanks for all the (good and bad) comments. I think it's between Hector and Hugo at the moment. May wait to see what feels right when he's here.
