LOVE this name, but a few close friends commented that they think it sounds too much like Sadist or Sadie the bag lady!

What do you think?

Too close to Sad imo.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2010 10:00

Not keen, sounds short for something.

Ephiny · 15/12/2010 10:04

If you live in the North-East everyone would think of Sadie the Bra Lady Grin.

Isn't it short for Sarah?

ShoppingDays · 15/12/2010 10:09

I like it, it's a pretty name :)

HowsTheSerenity · 15/12/2010 10:17

This is the first thing I think of when I hear the name Sadie. It is a lovely name but do not ever let her move to Australia and everyone knows this song!

sparkleandspin · 15/12/2010 10:33

That's AWFUL!!!! We have Australian family so I think it's a no no.

I know a couple of little Sadies. Both with very trendy muso parents.

LouCracker · 15/12/2010 12:53

LOVE Sadie. I would have used it if my brother hadn't got in there first Xmas Smile

nopinkplasticshite · 15/12/2010 13:19

Sorry - it's an old lady name in the style of Les Dawson in rollers harumphing one's bosom!

fel1x · 15/12/2010 13:28

I LOVE it

AllieW · 15/12/2010 13:30

Not very keen, sorry. Because of Nina Simone's song Mississippi Goddamn it sits in my head as name that slave owners would have called their slaves (I'm thinking particularly of the lyric, "please don't call me Sister Sadie"). I much prefer Sally of the Sarah-derivatives.

Sadie - The Bra Lady.

Non English speakers will pronounce it Sadd-ie. Also agree it is too similar to sad or sadistic. Not good associations.

sparkle12mar08 · 15/12/2010 13:38

Also very eighties and dates badly.

CaptainNancy · 15/12/2010 14:00

Makes me think of "Sexy ..." sorry.

Berk · 15/12/2010 18:21

I love it, will use it for dd2 if ever have one! Talked myself out of it first time & regret it slightly.
