Hello, I'm looking for opinions please.Smile

I'm expecting my third child and I know its a girl. I'm thinking of Amelia Rose as a name. What does anyone think? (My second choice is Emma.)

Really lovely, classic and elegant.

StarlightPrincess · 14/12/2010 20:15

Lovely classic name, very feminine.

Thank you!!!

Really like it. But I think Emma Rose sounds lovely as well.

rachxx · 14/12/2010 21:15

I ,ike it, but every Amelia I know is 'Amelia Rose'

nancythenaughtyfairy · 14/12/2010 22:26

Amelia is very girly and flowery IMO.

Emma is much more understated.

jewelsforxmasplease · 14/12/2010 22:29

very populart name here, rose as a nn is used too much now imo, and amelia rose sounds pretty but a bit long boat ish. Emma is very pretty tho

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 14/12/2010 23:13

Love them both :)

AllieW · 15/12/2010 13:27

Beautiful. The only Amelia I know is Amelia Francesca which is also very nice.

sparkle12mar08 · 15/12/2010 13:40

Lovely but very popular/common as a result.

BornToFolk · 15/12/2010 13:46

Very pretty but both names are very overused. Every little girl I know that's been born in the last 3 years has had the middle name Rose!
I really love Amelia but there are loads of Amelia/Amelie/Emilia/Emilys around at the moment.

Hulababy · 15/12/2010 13:48

Very pretty name. Being popular is not important to me.

My little niece is called Emma, really suit her.

elizabethjane · 15/12/2010 14:10

Thank you all for the feedback. Wouldn't it be great if you could find out in which particular areas of the UK a name was commonly used!

Hi Jewels for Xmas - when you say longboatish do you mean Viking-ish?

Lots and lots of Amelias around here (south west). It is a nice name but personally the popularity would really put me off. But if it doesnt bother you go for it.

cuppatino · 15/12/2010 21:46

Doesn't she (Jewels) mean like the name on the side of a barge?

I like Amelia Rose. So what if it's popular. It's very pretty. My DD2 has Emilia as a second name.

onehitwonder · 15/12/2010 21:51

ahhh this was going to be my second childs name, but he turned out to be a DS not a DD. Lovely names, our DD is Daisy Ella, so I wanted to reverse the name/flower name combination for our second (if a DD). Kind of sad we never got to use the names (no plans for a third child) as I think they are so lovely!

perpetuallypregnant · 15/12/2010 23:15

Very pretty :)

Concordia · 15/12/2010 23:16

very nice

CrazyChristmasLady · 17/12/2010 19:44

This was one of our Amelia combinations. We have had the name picked for about 8 years. I don't give a stuff how popular it is, I love it.

Rose was an option as a middle name, we gave DS (2.10) a choice of 3 middle names and we have let him pick the one he likes. He has picked our favourite but I wouldn't have been sorry if he had picked Rose.

DeckTheHallWithBowlsOfPomBears · 17/12/2010 19:48

Amelia is lovely - it's not overused among people I know.
Rose is desperately overused as a middle name. Everyone seems to choose Rose or Grace. It's nice with Amelia but dull.

Mumcah · 17/12/2010 21:27

I prefer Emma but maybe because it's less popular atm.

Berk · 18/12/2010 10:52

nice, bit dull now? Emma bit 70's in my mind as lots at school but objectively think is quite classic.

MrsSatsuma · 18/12/2010 11:03

I think it's lovely. It's your child - stuff whether others are using the name too! My parents chose my name because they thought it wasn't too common, but there ended up being 6 of us with that name in my year at school. Didn't bother me at all!

KAEKAE · 18/12/2010 16:16

Amelia Rose was our shortlist for our DD last year....it is SO popular. We didn't end up using it, not because of its popularity just because a very close family memeber used the name first. Lovely name though.
