This is my new shortlist. Only 5 weeks to go, and no idea what to call her! What kind of person would you say suits these names?

Much appreciated.

Oh and the only Astrid I know is absolutely fab! :)

LittleYellowTeapot · 13/12/2010 21:28

I really like Estelle

LittleYellowTeapot · 13/12/2010 21:28

Oh yes, I agree about Audrey. I love Audra too.

FattyArbuckel · 13/12/2010 21:36

Robin is nice, or Kirsten, not overlygirly

Joan - due for a revival

ShoppingDays · 13/12/2010 21:48

Yes Saskia is nice... or Sadie?

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 14/12/2010 00:55

DD is Sasha and she is beautiful :). She's funny, affectionate and strong-willed. Obviously my favourite from your list. It means 'defender of humankind' and I think can be strong and pretty. When I saw it in the baby name book it was the Russian diminutive of Alexandra. IMO much more feminine than masculine.

Of the others also like Marnie and Stella, and Sadie suggested above.

Other suggestions I also like Eden (meaning 'delightful and enchanting') and Emma (meaning 'whole').

HelenaRose · 14/12/2010 01:59

Marina - like a shipyard?

I like Astrid and Sasha.

lowrib · 14/12/2010 05:42

I love your choices. I met a little Astrid yesterday (6 yrs old) and said what a beautiful name I thought it was. I also said I thought Scandanavian names were becoming more popular...
Estelle also beautiful. And someone mentioned Greta - I like that too.

Prefer Sasha a NN for Alexandra. Sasha is too casual. Love Marina. Marlie sounds likes a cartoon caracter to me. Not a fan of the rest of names.

Rhubarbgarden · 14/12/2010 18:47

travispickles · 15/12/2010 17:44

Thanks all, some great feedback. Think it has helped me to whittle it down to a couple of favourites... TGFM (thank god for mumsnet!) otherwise this child would have been called 'Girl 1' like a poor child from the middle ages Xmas Wink

Lol at travispickles, glad to see you have a classy taste in names. x Xmas Grin

A1980 · 16/12/2010 00:11

i'm inferring from your thread title that you don't want an uber girly name.

In that case, have my name, Alexandra.

NN is usually Alex which is pretty bad ass for a girl. I've had nothing but positive feedback regarding it. People seem to really like it.

itfcbabe · 16/12/2010 15:54

Astrid lovely name
Estelle reminds me of the old lady from the golden girls
Marina no no no
Marlena no no
Marnie like it
Sasha ok
Stella lovely name

AllieW · 17/12/2010 14:31

Just thought, how does Ingrid strike you?

zippy30 · 17/12/2010 15:54

What about Estrid - another Swedish name and a slight variation on Astrid? A friend of mine called her baby girl Estrid and I think it's lovely and quite unusual.
