DH is Irish but we live in France. DD has a Breton name and DS is Finn. I am not keen on names ending with -a but quite like the sound of Cara or Ciara.
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Cara is a gorgeous name!

Not so keen on Ciara.

Maternelle · 12/12/2010 21:43

Thanks I was starting to doubt my tastes as I quite liked Neve but MN said noooooooo!
Not sure if we are having a boy or a girl.

Maternelle, I posted on one of your previous threads re Niamh, Neve. I love love love Cara. Have considered it for dds, know one and its always lovely when you hear her name.

darleneconnor · 12/12/2010 21:43

Cara is lovely, she may well have to correct people who try to spell it with a K though

Ciara is a totally different name though isn't it? Are you intending to pronounce it Ciar-a or Ci-ara? Also has the K confusion.

Poledra · 12/12/2010 21:45

I like Cara, and so does DH - unfortunately, it does not go with our surname, so wasn't used for any of 3 DDs.

Maternelle · 12/12/2010 21:45

A friend of DH that he sees every 2 years or so and live in a different country has a daughter called Cara. I know DH will think it's a problem...

Ciara: Feminised version of Ciaran, meaning ?dark?.
Cara: means ?friend.? ? Do Chara means Your Friend and thus the name of this site!

Beautiful name, have got one myself.:)

panettoinydog · 12/12/2010 22:02

Good name

panettoinydog · 12/12/2010 22:03

SLight preference for Clara, mind you

DoNotWantToBeGoogled · 12/12/2010 23:08

How about Carla instead? (because of the friend) or Carly

KenDoddsDadsDogEatsTinsel · 13/12/2010 07:14

Love Cara. Don't think it matters about the friend.

Komondor · 14/12/2010 17:43

I like Cara, prefer it to Clara.

Ephiny · 15/12/2010 08:48

I like Ciara, though people will probably tend to spell with a K (like Kiera Knightley!). Itt's a beautiful name though.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/12/2010 08:57

Prefer Chiara/Ciara. Only because I know a Cara grown up and don't like her.

BendyBobCratchit · 15/12/2010 08:59

Yes it's prettySmile and not overused either which is good.

I'm reading a book with a Kyra in it atm. Just another one to consider.

LittleYellowTeapot · 16/12/2010 12:56

I like the Caragh spelling Smile

AllieW · 16/12/2010 12:59
