Names you loved but DP vetoed

He vetoed Daniel, I vetoed Lawrence. Thank God we had another girl!

Dp wanted names like Sophie and Chloe but I vetoed those.

mine vetod isla, alexa, olivia, pippa, faye, effie (soo many more!!) all my pretty girls names and then suggested Jocelyn! is he taking the piss!? then decided on ruby, and he wasnt gonna shift on it and would veto everythin i suggested untill i agreed with him! never! so when he eventualy suggested raine and river we comprimised and made her orla raine..see how long it sticks before he changes his mind...!

See, I quite like Jocelyn - but can see that from the list of names you were suggesting, Darnsarf that it's way off the mark. DHs sometime just don't try, do they?

My DH vetoed Seth as well I love it but apparently it just makes him think of an "emo kid teenager wearing jeans with the crotch so low he looks like it'll trip him up"...And I thought I was over thinking names!!

Bejingaling (I hope I've got your name right!) One of your vetoed names is part of my name! DH is very keen to use it so if ours is a girl it will be middle name. He was all for it being a first name but I went through a phase of hating it as my own name around 9years old (wanted Louise like all the other girls at school!) and worried history would repeat itself. I love my name now though!

Verity and Dominic. He said they sound poncey. His brother is called Piers ffs :o

Ex-h hated the name and we argued about it when I was in labour.

Midwife told him I should have final say as I'd gone through all the pain to have the baby - who turned out to be a girl anyway

haha hormones i def agree! surely as we do all the work and spend 9 months crying before going through labour we should get the final say?!

what really got we was that OH was a complete arse when i first found out i was pregnant as he was with someone else and after we eventualy sorted everythin out he comes strolling back in and has the nerve to veto!! grrr

I still think dd could have been Stella, but as she's a name that others on this htread have had vetoed perhaps I should be grateful!

Otis was another, but I'm happy with ds1 and ds2's names so not bothered and think it may have been a little odd in retrospect.

Stella though would have been something great, dd probably will be anyway, but with a name like Stella how could she fail?

OH didnt like stella because its reminded him of the beer...i liked it though :(

Every time I suggested Stella (gibbons- author of cold comfort farm & best book ever) dh would do his best rocky impression and throw his arms in the air and shout:

Henry. Wanted to name DS after the character in The Secret History. Not only does DH hate the name, he thought the book was shite as well :(

DS is SO not a Henry though, and the name we went for really suits him, so it all worked out in the end .

lol practicallyimperfect i didnt get it all my own way! he decided the only way to comprimise was if he got his first choice (raine) in too so now were fighting it out to decide if she'll be Orla-Raine or Orla Raine..if you get me? lol

had my heart set on Alexa from the start then his disgusting ex decided to tell me her DD was gonna be called that, no reason to give it up i know but it completely ruined it for both me and OH :(

If it were me choosing, I would go with Orla Raine... but then again if I had it all my way I'd have had nothing to add to this thread
