Your help please, O Wise Ones. I love the nn Tavie, but what could it be short for, if not Octavia, which I really dislike/is too vehicular for a mechanic's daughter? There must be something! TIA

Rikki-tikki?

Stephanie -> Stevie -> Tevie -> Tavie?

MelinaM · 10/12/2010 23:31

It is a variant of the name Octavia, how about Tavia as a name? It's a hard one this!Hmm

Some further possiblilites:

Taviana
Tavina
Tavinia ...pronounced the same was as Davinia. I like this!
Tavine
Tavita

I think that's all! x

MelinaM · 10/12/2010 23:31

..way even!!!

MelinaM · 10/12/2010 23:35

Tavira is another! x

euracantha · 11/12/2010 17:07

I know a 5 year old called Tavia

Ishouldhavechosenagoldfish · 11/12/2010 19:55

Thanks for the ideas. MelinaM, are your suggestions 'real' names, or have you just made them up? I do like them!

RockinRobinBird · 11/12/2010 19:56

Tavie sounds made up, Octavia is gorgeous. You've got it all round the wrong way.

CheerfulYank · 11/12/2010 20:19

I think Octavia is pretty, and Tavie is a cute nn. But if you don't like it...hmmm...

I know a little girl who's named Tayva, but I think it's kind of...not good.

I'll try to think of something else and get back to you! :)

MelinaM · 11/12/2010 20:23

Hello, no they are real, I went a searching on google! There are a few Tavinia's on Facebook if that helps! ...not too many though!

My sister has just suggested McTavish, I'm not sure if she was entirely serious... I haven't been very successful in my Googling so far, I was just hoping that there would be some kind of softer variant, like Ottavie or similar.

Latavia was the one who got booted out of Destiny's Child.

Mumsnut · 13/12/2010 20:32

Tabitha Vienna

sleepingsowell · 13/12/2010 20:56

Tavia = scottish meaning Twin
Tavisha = sanskrit, meaning Heaven

kreecherlivesupstairs · 14/12/2010 09:10

Lucy. Call her what you want then call her the nickname. Our DD seldom gets called her real name, mainly she is Bobbins or Bobs.

Komondor · 14/12/2010 17:49

I know a male Tavie. His actual name is Gustavus.

I think it tends to be a nn for Gustav

Perhaps the Tav could be in the name, rather than first few letters.

Not much help though, as I cannot think of any girls names containing Tav.

xx

MerryClitoris · 21/12/2010 15:24

Hello again (have festively namechanged). Thanks for all your help. I am actually leaning towards the Tabitha Vienna idea, being that the middle name is to be Vivienne anyway, after MIL. The only Ta name I like is Tansy, though, and not sure about that even. Any more bright ideas?

SilkStalkings · 21/12/2010 17:29

Stephanie? Anastasia? Tallulah? Titania?
Really liking Tavia now I know it's a real Scottish name actually.
Tansy's nice, I don't like Tabitha because I don't like the sound of Tabby.

Nightstar · 21/12/2010 17:56

There is the Welsh name Tivyan, or Tyvian, I'm not sure how it's spelt.

minipie · 21/12/2010 18:01

Tanya?

Talitha (pretty sure that is a real name?)

twinkletoesxmas · 21/12/2010 22:06

Tatiana
Tiana
Tabitha
Tara

all nice beginning with T names :)

Though Octavia is quite classic?
