DS2 - can't find a name we like enough!

DS(1) is Adam Matthew. Middle name will be Andrew. Surname is J*nes.

Shortlist (well, longlist) is:

ALEXANDER
CHRISTOPHER
DANIEL
EDWARD
HENRY
MAX
NICHOLAS
OLIVER
PHILIP
SEBASTIAN
TRISTAN

Bump is currently known as "George" but we are unlikely to use this really ("George J*nes" is just too many j-sounds!) but we can't agree on a best one.

The main problems we have are that we either like the full name or the nicknames, but rarely both. We would not put a nickname on a birth certificate (e.g. Jack or Harry).

Any thoughts or direction, Mumsnetters?

Thanks in advance

Lucy

What about Sebastian Andrew, sounds fab!

AllieW · 10/12/2010 08:24

Of your list I would go for Christopher, Nicholas or Sebastian. I'm surprised at your inclusion of Max since you say you don't want nicknames - I always thought that was a shortening of Maximilian or Maxwell, but still, I quite like it. Of these I think Christopher goes best with your chosen middle name (and I might also add that Christopher Henry would be rather swish).

I love Christopher Andrew or Nicholas Andrew great names! Strong confident names imo but do you like Chris or Kit as nn for Christopher and Nick for Nicholas? As your little ones friends will undoubtedly shorten his name... I like them myself but iv an Christy who's fab and a cousin Chris who's a total dude so I'm bias Grin

Secretwishescometrue · 10/12/2010 09:32

An uncle Christy that is...

LLJ4 · 10/12/2010 09:35

Thanks all!

Glad Christopher is popular, that's my favourite. The only sticking point is that DH doesn't like Kit (not sure how that's possible Hmm but something to do with Knight Rider) or Christy ("too girly) and we both think Chris is an adult name.

Also very glad that all the most popular ones are the ones from my list, and the less popular ones are the ones from DH's list (including Max). Shows what an excellent namer I am.

I am 5 months so still plenty of time to make a decision really.

Thanks for the support xx

Fantastic list! I like all of them :) Really, you can't go wrong with one of those.

AllieW · 10/12/2010 09:42

Another possible nn for Christopher is Kester which is the medieval version of the name - not sure how that would play with your fella though! (Personally I'm not too keen since I think it's a bit close to Esther.)

Hedwig3 · 10/12/2010 11:34

I think George Jones is rather nice Xmas Smile

Otherwise, Adam and...

Christopher
Henry
Tristan
Kester - I know an adult Kester (not a nickname)
