Don't like Herm-y-oh-ne but do like Hermione pronounced a la Potter very much indeed.

Many years ago, my brother thought it was Hermy ONE.

JLAD · 07/12/2010 21:56

After Harry Potter everyone knows how to pronounce it, but I would avoid that name if I were you, it is too closely identified with the books/films

MelinaM · 07/12/2010 23:37

I've always loved the name Hermione, long before JK, HP & Co came along! It's a lovely, lovely name! x

FullaDoll · 08/12/2010 04:49

Hermione has always struck me as a 'trying too hard' name, used by people who are trying to convince everyone that they are middle class.

I like it a lot. I don't see how it can make you look like you're trying to be middle class. It's just a nice name.

FullaDoll · 08/12/2010 15:05

I am just going by the people I know that have chosen this name for their child.

Violet5 · 08/12/2010 19:56

I think it's lovely, but then i like Shakesperain names in general, i have an Imogen and if this baby had been a girl although Hermionie was on the list she would have been Miranda, but 20 week scan revealed baby is a boy.

ShoppingDays · 09/12/2010 20:59

Love it :)

AllieW · 10/12/2010 10:11

Love it. Loved it before Harry Potter, too.

jacquiel · 10/12/2010 10:13

Because of HP there will be a rash of Hermione's though... and people will associate it with HP even if that wasnt your intention - so think about how you will feel about that side of it in future

JJ17 · 23/12/2010 03:27

I like Ariadne and Antigone too.

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 23/12/2010 05:05

I really like it, and Harry Potter has been around for over 10 years and there still isn't a 'rash' of Hermiones. I only know of one.

Nightstar · 23/12/2010 17:07

I dont know anyone called Hermione at all. I think it's beautiful and i love Shakespeare names as well. Especially the slighly less everyday ones

Hermione
Viola/Violet
Portia
Ophelia
Hero
Miranda
Perdita

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 17:14

I like it. I'd neve heard of it before HP, and I've never met, or even heard of a baby Hermione.

I agree Ophelia and Miranda are pretty.

LouCracker · 23/12/2010 17:53

Love Hermione! Very pretty and under used.
