Opinions please!

With 5 weeks to go i think we have a decision but as i don't want to tell family / friends our names i need opinions to make sure we're not totally off the wall.

We've got Maia Anne for a girl (Anne non negotiable as both grandmother's names). But is Maia too common, too like Mia which i keep hearing? I really want something a little different.

For a boy we have Xavier Alexander which i love but worried Xavier too Spanish sounding when we're both British??

Maia is pretty but Mia, Maya, Maia is very popular if that concerns you.

Xavier I love but was never brave enough to go with it.

I thought Xavier was French? Dp works with a french guy whose son is called this, but I could be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.... Its lovely, especially pronounced with an accent, but do you have a very english surname? In which case it may not go.

Prefer Mia for girls name

Maia is very pretty, not too common but not unusual either. Mia is very popular around here though.

I thought Xavier was French too.

There are a fair few Mia/Maias around(although not as many as Esme/Evie/Ella etc). If that puts you off, how about Myla?

Myla i like, any other suggestions like that. I want something pretty, not too common but not off the wall either. Some of the names i really liked for girls have just become so popular recently!

Xavier is popular in the Basque and Catalan regions of Spain. It's more commonly Javier in Spain but can be both. Because it's a saints name don't think it matters what nationality you are!

Do people think that Amaia Anne is too many "A" sounds? I quite like Amaia too and its a bit different?

Could you do a variation of Anne? (If ever I was naming a child after someone this is what I would do, so as to pay homage while giving my child her own name).

Roxanne or Roseanne? Then Amaia would work.

I like Maya a lot. I think Mia is too common. I knew a bunch airheads in college called Mia, so don't have good associations with this name (same as Leila)...

I would guess that you were from Spain or Latin America if I met your baby Xavier.

Neither my husband, nor I English, however, we live in the UK and do not want to give our baby a name that would be too foreign (primarily to avoid unnecessary questioning). It seems like you are doing quite the opposite. Trust me, it is not fun to explain over 1000 times to curious strangers where you are from and how long you have lived here!
