Alice, Miranda or Madeleine?

I'm due today and we're still unsure of our girls names. We are down to Alice, Miranda or Madeleine. Our surname is 2 syllables beginning with 'Ma'. What do you think?

Miranda. definitely

Violet5 · 22/11/2010 14:26

Miranda was what we were going to call this baby if he had been a she.
I LOVE the name, i like Alice too but know a few and i also liked Madeline but wasn't keen on people shortening it to Mads.
Obviously then i'd vote for Miranda Smile

maddylou · 22/11/2010 14:29

Alice is lovely and would also suit a more tomboyish girl,Miranda sorry I find it a bit fussy ,Madeleine I like but it has associations now

Fimbo · 22/11/2010 14:29

Miranda or Alice

You could use either one as the middle name too.

Too many Madeleines at the moment.

Good Luck!

MunchMummy · 22/11/2010 14:34

We have a 2 yr old Madeleine, but I prefer Alice.

Don't know any other Madeleines around here, so I don't think its THAT popular. More Esmes and Isabelles.

Goingspare · 22/11/2010 14:38

I like them all, but Madeleine might not work with your surname.

Miranda.

Fayrazzled · 22/11/2010 14:47

I'm another who thinks Miranda is a bit fussy/flowery.

I like Alice the best.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 22/11/2010 15:14

Miranda is lovely.

TinselinaBumSquash · 22/11/2010 15:15

I love the name Alice.

MissMashMissMash · 22/11/2010 15:19

Like Alice best followed by Miranda, not keen on Madeleine and not sure if it would go with your surname.

pinkhebe · 22/11/2010 15:21

I like Alice

Psammead · 22/11/2010 16:09

I like them all. My order of preference is the same as your list.

Mrsmackie · 22/11/2010 18:11

I have an Alice so definitely would go with that. Don't like Miranda too much (more suited to an adult in my opinion) Madeleine pretty but seem to be lots of 'Maddies' around at the moment.

LynetteScavo · 22/11/2010 18:14

All are lovely, but Alice is the nicest.

cath476 · 22/11/2010 18:15

Alice and Madeleine get my vote.

Ineedsomesleep · 22/11/2010 18:15

Personally I'd go with Alice as I'm not keen on alliteration, but its not my baby [smile}.

Like Miranda but am a big fan of Miranda Hart.

Know alot of Madeleines.

Mousesmummy · 22/11/2010 18:18

I just can't get past the McCann connection with Madeleline - although it's a lovely name.
Miranda seems very 'grown up' IMO - can't imagine a newborn called it??
I think Alice is a truly beautiful name - suits a baby and an adult.
Best of luck for the rest of the day Smile

Ineedsomesleep · 22/11/2010 18:23

Will have to differ on that one then Mouses. How I look on it is you are naming a person who will spend the majority of their life as a adult, you're not naming a baby IYKWIM.

ClareV · 22/11/2010 18:25

Alice and Maddy for me.

FairyArmadillo · 22/11/2010 18:31

I like all your names but especially Miranda. It was my favourite girls' name years ago when I was a Northern Exposure Fan (baby born on the show called Miranda Bliss).

lilly13 · 22/11/2010 22:26

Alice

NoahAndTheWhale · 22/11/2010 22:39

I love Alice (have one myself).

I like Madeleine too. And rather like Miranda too

meg89 · 22/11/2010 23:02

not too keen on miranda.. But like alice(not too popular either) and suit baby or adult well, love madeliene, its on our list too,but agree maddie is popular at the mo.

Hedwig3 · 23/11/2010 09:58

Miranda...gorgeous!

angels1 · 23/11/2010 12:55

I like all 3 options, but Miranda is by far the best Grin. Only thing is not sure how well it would go with a 'ma' beginning surname . I think it would be find so long as surname is different number of sylabuls to miranda.

I would like Miranda for my little girl but it's my sisters name and she's very much taken with being the only miranda in the family! We were considering Alice but are now wondering about Alicia (don't know if that might be good for you too).
