Means loveable I believe.
I like it for a little girl but would it be awful for a teenager/grown woman?

I had a great aunty Mabel. never tought about it before but actually it's quite cute for a little girl!

I havent heard it for years though. Definately different!

floweryblue · 19/11/2010 22:59

I used to know a Mabel on UK Chat, I thought it was an old fashioned name but she suited it perfectly. She used Mabs or Bel for short.

DiscoDaisy · 19/11/2010 23:00

My 6 year old DS has a Mabel in his year group.

LetThereBeRock · 19/11/2010 23:27

It's hideous.

ramonaquimby · 19/11/2010 23:30

It's gorgeous, my fave girls name

HelenaRose · 19/11/2010 23:34

I associate it with dogs. Or cows. Sorry. :/

MelinaM · 19/11/2010 23:46

Love it actually, never thought of it before. Good nicknames: May or Belle/Bella. Cute for little one and quite striking for a teenager/adult. Go for it if you're brave enough for something different!

tummytickler · 20/11/2010 09:35

I love it - was nearly dd's name.

mejon · 20/11/2010 10:07

The Welsh version - Mabli is my first choice for DD2 due in January.

BibiThree · 20/11/2010 11:05

Adore it. Think it's a beaut of a name. Also Mabli, but if you're not Welsh ...

LittleYellowTeapot · 20/11/2010 11:09

Love it. Not sure I'd be brave enough to use it though. But I do think it's a beautiful name.

LadyInPink · 20/11/2010 11:16

I know a teenge Mabel - it has never been an issue for her. She is Mabe or Mabes for short and it really suits her. A gorgeous name!

Go for it Smile

letsblowthistacostand · 20/11/2010 11:17

Love it. Want to have another girl just so I can use it.

JetLi · 20/11/2010 11:20

Thanks all - I'm getting ever so keen on it, the more I think about it Smile

Thanks LadyInPink - Mabes does sound quite grown up for when she's older.
