I like them all, except Amber.

There is a pattern there.. Do you like the letter A?

mumsfrazzled · 11/11/2010 19:22

Yeah my other DC's childrens names begin with A so DH would like to keep that pattern.

I like Asha best.

EmmaLM · 11/11/2010 20:08

I would go with Amber. She'll be spelling her name out all her life otherwise.

Asha - not as keen as the others
Anisha - like it
Amiya - like it
Amber - pretty
Aneya - very pretty
Amisha - love it
Alisha - lovely
Ayesha - not so keen as the others

love Amisha or Anisha.

Amber

This seems a slightly odd list but perhaps you are just struggling to find another "A" name?
I only really recognize Alisha, Ayesha/Asha and Amber as names, and personally prefer Alicia to Alisha. If you are going for a theme with your children I guess which one works depends on your other choices. Also possibly your ethnic background too - I knew an Ayesha at school and she was Bangladeshi I think - it's quite a Muslim name (one of the prophet's wives). Not that that is necessarily a problem, people now choose very old Testament names that might have once been thought of as exclusively Jewish, but just a very different sort of name to Amber which is both mainstream and popular.

I´m sure that they are not, but they sound (to me) made up to fit a criteria.

Like Alicia, and at a push Amber.

I like Amber the best and although Asha is nice, I think it would be confused with the boys name AshER.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2010 15:13

Asha -- I like, but a lot depends on the initial A sound. If pronounced Ahhh, then nice. If flat (thinking of Dublin accent) then NO.
Anisha -- sounds like a sneeze.
Amiya -- very wishy washy, sounds like Amelia with a few missing vowels and consonants.
Amber -- an airhead name imo.
Aneya -- Not keen. I knew an Anaya (an-eye-ah) and think that's preferable.
Amisha -- again, sounds like a sneeze
Alisha -- prefer Alicia by a long shot
Ayesha -- I like, also like Aisha spelling

So it would be Asha or Ayesha/Aisha for me. Or Anaya with an A in the middle.

Suggest Alannah? Athena? Astrid? Anya?
