Jack for a boy

Looking to call my baby boy Jack after his grand dad who passed away a few years ago. My DH loves the name and so do both our parents but one family friend has been very vocal about how she doesn't like it saying he will be called Jack Sh!t at school.
I like the name and can't think of a better one but as it has been one of the top baby names for a few years I'm not sure I want him to be one of many other Jacks although not met any Jacks baby or grown up for a long time.

Jack goes well with our surname just wondered what people thought?

Do feel a bit under pressure as DH has gone around telling everyone that the baby is going to be called Jack but want to get the name right and be 100% happy even if we have to change it when we meet him.

Thanks

I liked Jack for a boy but my DH thought with our surname he sounded like an old man even though he liked the name as well.

If we have a second DS we think we might go with it as we both really like it.

Jack is a lovely name.

Well to be rather bunt darling I think your friends a moron! ..ekk sorry! I've never heard of anyone called Jack referred to as 'Jack S*', dear me perhaps she wanted the name for herself and is putting you off! ..sorry I'm one of that always think there's an ulterior motive somewhere!!!

Jack's a lovely, lovely name and you should use it[smile

Jack Shit? Shock very strange.

Jack is a beautiful name. I absolutely love it. Its on my short list too, the only thing putting me off is apparantly its popularity. That said - I know 2 Jacks - one is almost 70 and the other is 16 (I think).

Definately go with it and its lovely that it has special meaning too.

Love it, and don't think he'll be called Jack Shit - no-one I know says that, ever. It's popularity must depend on where you live - there are a couple of Jacks round here, but far more with traditional Scottish names.
