if you narrowed it down to 2 names and really couldn't choose between them how did you finally decide ?

especially if baby looks /feels like both names .

both names fit with surname, have no awful initials etc

drawing lots seems such an awful way to choose a child's name .

you could still use the 'other' on future DD/DS.

Didn't put Boutros Boutros Ghali's parents off...

We choose the only name we could agree on each time.

dont use both - you'll regret it if you have another child and both names are "taken"!

do you have any other kids or any neices/nephews you're close to? They could choose?

One point to mention - we had two names, and I THOUGHT I liked them both equally, and just couldnt choose. But I told dh just to decide, and as soon as he said a name, I wanted the other one!! Now, maybe thats me just being obtuse, but......

Great idea vmcd28

Tell someone to choose for you or have a poll - then see what your reaction is to the outcome.

We had 2 names for DS3 and kept changing our minds. Both are short versions of longer names and in the top 100 but one is more unusual and this is what pipped the other when he was born. He could have suited both names but in the last few weeks we thought the less popular one would match better with our other kids names, we didn't want him to be one of several in a class. Very popular names can seem abit bland. So we opted for another and finally decided about 3 hours after the birth.
