We've chosen our boys name (Stephen).

Please let me know which is your favourite out of the following girls names:

FFion
Caroline

We keep changing our mind weekly, at the moment erring to Ffion.

If you could just let me know which you prefer, and I will count the votes!!

Caroline, very classic.

Ffion brings to mind William Hague's wife. She seems perfectly nice, but just see her if you know what I mean.

skippingturtle · 02/11/2010 16:53

Are you Welsh, or live in Wales? If not, I think you'd have to keep explaining that Ffion has two Fs, and isn't Fiona!

I think Caroline is a lovely name.

Komondor · 02/11/2010 17:04

Yes, we live in Wales. I'm English DH is Welsh.

Boys name is my fave Smile

Love Caroline. It's classic and sensible but also really pretty.

Much less keen on Ffion.

BridesheadRegardless · 02/11/2010 18:52

I like Ffion and Caroline .

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 02/11/2010 18:54

really not keen on ffion

really ;like caroline but I dont like to sway you, you must go with the name you like

doesn't anyone just wait for the baby to be born and then choose the name?

thats what we did, just happened like that

we had some names we liked but were never decided till a few weeks after birth

seeker · 02/11/2010 18:54

Caroline.

Ffion really only works if you're Welsh, or have a Welsh last name

Ffion Ap Jenkins, fine
Ffion Hebblethwaite - not so fine.

Also if you have another child, Stephen and Caroline sounds good - Stephen and Ffion sound less good.

mummyloveslucy · 02/11/2010 19:00

I prefere Caroline. I prefere Fiona to Ffion too.

Takver · 02/11/2010 19:06

I prefer Caroline. Ffion is nice, but there are millions of them (well, probably not literally, given the population of Wales, but YKWIM).

Caroline is IMO one of those perfect names that is classic, your dd will never have to spell it out, but very under used right now.

GailFawkes · 02/11/2010 19:07

I like Ffion, not keen on Caroline.

piscesmoon · 02/11/2010 19:14

Caroline
I don't like Ffion-Fiona is much prettier.

pranma · 02/11/2010 19:37

I think Caroline goes better with Stephen

KenDoddsDadsDogHatesFireworks · 02/11/2010 19:39

Caroline defo

weepootle · 02/11/2010 19:41

Caroline sounds very 70's to me, can't imagine a baby Caroline atm.

thisisyesterday · 02/11/2010 19:43

What shineoncrazydiamond said.

Sorry. Good luck and best wishes anyway.

LelloLorry · 02/11/2010 19:46

Prefer Ffion, by the time your DD is in school Caroline will probably be more of a Grandmothers name.

Thanks for the comments. It seems Caroline is the most popular. It doesnt bother me the name being 1970s, I've always liked it.

shineoncrazydiamond - possibly could be tempted but spent so long thinking about names, would be surprised if you came up with a new name.

We also quite like Carolyn, Julia, Seren and Erin - if thats helpful to you.

DH does not seem to like popular names (Evie, Ella, Ruby, Chloe etc.), or nature names (Summer, Willow, Skye) or what he describes as pompous names (which includes names most people would not consider pompous such as Clarissa, Rosamund etc.)
