Where do the dots go in Chlöe/Chloë?

Does anyone know the correct place to put the umlaut/diaeresis in Chloe?

People have told us different things and I want to get it right for the birth certificate. I have found both versions online but can't find the reasoning.

I always thought it was over the 'e' like in Zoë, but now I'm not sure.

Help please!

i think most people leave the dots off. do you particularly want them?

Interesting - where does the name actually come from?

evamummy · 02/11/2010 16:47

On the E - so that you stress the e.

And it is not a German Umlaut on the o (ö), as it would sound very different Grin.

What evamummy says. It shows that the e is pronounced separately from the o and not 'zo' iyswim.

On the e. :)
