DuelingFanjo · 30/10/2010 20:37

I like Martha and Milo.

rubyslippers · 30/10/2010 20:38

Edward and Imogen

Sequins · 30/10/2010 20:43

Imogen or Martha - will go for Imogen as nn Immy is nice.

Edward

If you like Xander what about Xavier? I only like Xander as a nn for Alexander, not as a name in itself

Mitchymum · 30/10/2010 20:48

Harriet and Felix for me.

Rhubarbgarden · 30/10/2010 20:50

Felicity or Harriet
and Edward

littleElif · 30/10/2010 20:57

Martha and Felix.

SE13Mummy · 30/10/2010 21:48

I have a 6-year-old Harriet (nn Hattie) so I'd choose that. Felicity was the other name we had lined up for her but DH said she looked more like a Harriet when she was born. I also like Imogen but with Mo as a probable nickname.

Edward or Milo are my favourites from your boys' list. Felix makes me think of cats.

FaintlyMacabre · 30/10/2010 21:50

Edward and Harriet.

onimolap · 30/10/2010 21:54

Felix and Felicity (twins in The Chalet School books)

But I think all the names on your list are lovely!

Oldjolyon · 30/10/2010 21:54

Some really nice names there...

Love Felicity, Annabel, Martha and Harriet.

From the boys list, I like all of them.

That's not much help, is it?

bendelicious · 30/10/2010 21:57

Thanks for your quick responses. Please keep them coming. After a lengthy discussion over a glass of wine, at the moment I am swinging towards Annabel, Martha or Felix and my other half is swinging towards Felicity and Edward Smile. Any MN got any preferences out of those?

Imogen - Quite a 'sensible' girls name IMO
Felicity - love it
Annabel - love it more
Rosie - boring
Martha - bit dull
Harriet - ok bit not an attractive name

Edward - great (but common)
Felix - love it
Xander - no, no, no. Not a fan. Think its ok as NN
Milo - love it

BelligerentGhoul · 30/10/2010 23:03

Girls
Imogen - yes
Felicity - yes
Annabel - ok
Rosie - not v exciting
Martha - lovely
Harriet - the best one. I wanted it for dd2 (with nn Hattie) but dp wouldn't play

Boys
Edward - lovely
Felix - dislike
Xander - no
Milo - no

MerryMarigold · 30/10/2010 23:06

Felicity and Edward. Good, solid names. Not particularly 'trendy'. Some of your names are very 'in' in certain areas/ circles - there may be loads of them around.

Imogen - bit trendy in certain slightly posh-ish circles
Felicity - like it
Annabel - hate it, baby Annabel
Rosie - sweet but not for grown ups
Martha - like imogen
Harriet - nope

Edward - nice, simple and classic
Felix - goes with imogen and martha for sure
Xander - quite like it because it is the most unusual of the bunch!
Milo - another one of the imogen and martha's

seeker · 30/10/2010 23:07

Wartha and Edward

seeker · 30/10/2010 23:08

Martha even!

MelinaM · 30/10/2010 23:30

Edward and Imogen. Both lovely classic names for a baby/ child and work into adulthood also! x

bendelicious · 31/10/2010 09:01

Thanks - anyone else?GrinGrinGrin

We have now narrowed it down to:

Girls
Annabel or Martha

Boys
Edward or Felix

Martha and Milo for me.

I actually like all your boys names.

Milo was in the running whilst I was having DS...but too many people mentioned the dreaded Tweenies association. Thankfully The Tweenies seem to have disappeared from our teevee screens these past couple of years so I may be considering it again for DC2 (due in May).

MerryMarigold · 31/10/2010 14:23

Leave it till the day/ or few days after you give birth. Not so you can see what 'suits' the child )hard to tell imo), but just to try a few out. Call your child the names and see what you feel comfortable with saying.

MerryMarigold · 31/10/2010 14:23

(But I will keep me fingers crossed it's a boy as Edward's much nicer than Martha!)

bendelicious · 31/10/2010 16:34

Thanks for your feedback. I have noticed Annabel doesnt seem to get many votes. Is it too 'girly'!!! Hmm

OP posts:
SE13Mummy · 31/10/2010 17:16

The 'bel' names are quite popular i.e. Isabel/le, Mirabelle (at least on MN) which may be why it doesn't get many votes. Personally, I love Anna but dislike Annabel completely irrational, I know!).

Bumperlicious · 31/10/2010 17:30

Like all your names except Edward, can't stand it for some inexplicable reason.

As for your short list I like Annabel or Felix.

proudfoot · 31/10/2010 21:02

Harriet or Imogen for a girl
Edward for a boy
