Love it, so much nicer than Bethany

Guacamole · 30/10/2010 13:15

I like it very much, but it's really popular at the moment (if that bothers you) I know of 3 born last year and 2 this year amongst friends and there are 2 in my DSs baby massage class.
If DS had been a girl I think we'd have chosen Bethan!

Really dislike it. Think the Beth sound is drippy

HelenaRose · 30/10/2010 14:40

Love it.

pickler · 30/10/2010 15:22

Adore it. Not popular at all, don't know of any young Bethans. Beth is one of those names that will never date too.

MajorPettigrew · 30/10/2010 15:33

BethAn is lovely, but it really grates on me when people say BethUn.

bensonbutnohedges · 30/10/2010 15:33

My DGD is Bethany and I much prefer Bethan. Am hoping she will become Beth when she is old enough to decide for herself. (Don't tell my DS or DIL though!)

Guacamole · 30/10/2010 18:50

It's odd no one else has noticed it's popularity, maybe it's a Welsh thing? Still love it though!

Rhubarbgarden · 30/10/2010 19:07

I think it sounds dated - it was immensely popular about ten years ago together with Megan.

Mitchymum · 30/10/2010 20:49

Bethan is lovely, rarer, and therefore better, than Bethany, though Bethany is not Not Nice, if you know what I mean.

Dylthan · 30/10/2010 21:51

Think it is a welsh thing guacamole dh is welsh so we called dd bethan but as we live in Scotland people find it a really odd name and repeat it back to me as if they have heard incorrectly.

Op I think the name is lovely but I might be slightly biased Wink

nannynobnobs · 30/10/2010 21:53

Ooh my friend Beth would have something to say about the 'drippy' comment... She can be terrifying :o

Tangchi · 30/10/2010 21:53

I love it but could never use it as it rhymes with our surname!

MerryMarigold · 30/10/2010 23:19

I love it. I prefer it pronouced Beth-anne rather than Bethun.

MuffinMouse · 30/10/2010 23:25

I don't hear it as an attractive name. Sorry. But I would say it was a 'safe' name IKWIM.

DuelingFanjo · 30/10/2010 23:27

I don't like it but that's probably because it's so popular here in Wales.
