Hi, I'm new here, and I would just like a bit of advice...

Just musing about baby names and came across the name Willow and I absolutely love it, but I guess if your surname is Williams you can't really have it? What do you think?

Thanks!

Love the name Willow but really wouldn't go with Willow Williams. Sorry!
How about River or something similar?
I like whacky names Blush

My Grandad was William Williams but he went through life known as Bill. Willow wouldn't have that option so it's probably better not to use the name, even though it is lovely.

Is Willow wacky? I didn't realise, I just thought it was pretty!

I know you are right!! Its so annoying though, every name I love just doesn't seem to go with our surname. When I was pregnant with DS I really wanted Lilia (if he was a girl) but Lilia Williams - just too many Ls!

No to Willow Williams, sorry. Willow might not be a good idea whatever your surname anyway - unless you're absolutely sure they'll be thin and willowy for their whole life.

No - it's horrid.

MuffinMouse · 29/10/2010 14:25

I think Willow is really lovely - in a slightly hippy/wacky way. I disagree about the surname being a problem though. I think if you say it lots it sounds great. I would choose a traditional mn just in case she hates it. 'Cause Willow Williams is quite a 'statement' name, IKWIM.

Thanks for all your comments :)

PaisleyPumpkin - both me and my husband have always been skinny and my husband is tall, so I reckon it would suit!

Thanks MuffinMouse, I just know deep down that I'd always find it slightly wrong!

Guess I better just keep thinking

I love the name Willow and if we ever have another child and it happens to be a girl, she will be getting the name Willow! So pretty!

Lovely name, but doesn't got with Williams IMO. What about another nature name like Skye, or all the flower names?
Or Rosa? Rosina?
