Lovely names but which one is best?

Joseph.

Screeeech · 27/10/2010 21:15

I am biased, but Oliver! Grin

jacksgrannie · 27/10/2010 21:15

Jack. (But I may be biased!)

DinosaurRumpus · 27/10/2010 21:16

Joseph.
I love Joe as a nickname too :)

If you asked my 12yr old boy, he would say Oliver. I'm expecting DC4 in a day or two and that's the top of his list..

Rindercella · 27/10/2010 21:18

I love all three. I would probably choose Joseph over the other two if pushed. But then Oliver is lovely. And so is Jack Confused

Hulababy · 27/10/2010 21:19

Hard choice - like them all.

Had DD been a boy she would have been Oliver Joseph :) I love Joseph, but can't use it as a first name with my surname of King! Like Jack too.

sleepyhorse · 28/10/2010 10:38

yes I love them all too :-)

All good names. Oliver probably my favourite. I like Ollie as a nickname.

OliviaMumsnet · 28/10/2010 10:43

If it influences you any, Oliver has just been listed as number 1 boys' name for the last year.

sleepyhorse · 28/10/2010 10:51

Oliviamumsnet - I see that as a compliment. Its popular for a reason!

All are good, strong, classic names :)

thefurryone · 28/10/2010 10:57

I love the name Joseph, can't use it myself as doesn't go with my surname but would probably have been my top choice otherwise.

cumbria81 · 28/10/2010 11:02

Joseph. I think "Joe" is a really nice nickname.

MissHavishamsDress · 28/10/2010 12:52

Joseph, less common (see top 100 names)

ChessyEvans · 28/10/2010 16:36

I love Oliver and we were definitely going to have it (although DH disagreed!) until the popular names list came out. It's not so much the fact it's popular but more the fact that people will find a way to distinguish between the 3 or 4 Olivers in the class (if there really are that many). Once you're an adult it's not as bad but children can be cruel - which Oliver? Fat Oliver, stupid Oliver or smelly Oliver?!! I was the only one of my name in my school and loved that fact!

But I still think Oliver's a lovely name Grin

anonymosity · 28/10/2010 18:22

Joseph to me, sounds very biblical. I also cannot get over the idea that Joe is "Joe Schmoe" but that's just me.

Jack and Oliver are number 2 and number 1 on the most popular names list, but if that doesn't bother you, I'd go with one of those.

weepootle · 28/10/2010 19:57

Oliver or Jack, not keen on Joseph. Despite their popularity I hardly know any - there are only 1 of each in dd1's lower school.
