Boys name to go with Spike

So. DS' name is Spike and DC2 will be arriving next year. We had a very tough time finding boys names we liked first time round, so thought we'd better get started on finding another boys name, although gender is currently unknown.

I was thinking of going with the Comedians of the 50s/60s theme (Lenny, Woody, Sid), but couldn't find anything I liked. Also not sure "themes" is the best way to go when naming a baby!

Spike is obviously quite a punchy name and I want DC2's name to be able to hold it's own.

Names ending in an "O" sound are out as they sound terrible with our surname.

I've spent two weeks idly browsing names and not found ONE that I liked Hmm.

This is going to be tough.

Anything spring to mind?

For me it would have to be Bob.

kittya · 28/10/2010 01:08

Jed or Jett? I like Lenny for a boy.

Nooooo, not Lingus (tis Aer Lingus for one, and cunnilingus would be the absolute worst)

I'm going to resist suggesting Snoopy..

For some reason I immediately thought of Yannick when I read Spike.

Or how about:
Bo
Axel

There are two boy characters in Angelina Ballerina called Spike and Sammy. That's if you don't mind calling your sons after fictional mice, of course.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/10/2010 10:29

I like Spike and Buster.

Vlad is great too.

Bob is way too scary (I'm still traumatised by Twin Peaks!)

hatsybatsy · 28/10/2010 11:38

Ted

Mac

Wilf

Buddy

foreverastudent · 28/10/2010 12:23

It has to be Angel, surely? Wink

Psychommead · 28/10/2010 13:30

Buster gets my vote!

Spike sure is unusual, but I like it!

New one - Solomon?

Psychommead · 28/10/2010 13:33

HAD to add, just seen your profile pic. Spike is GORGEOUS. Love his cardie, too. Did you knit it yourself?

Psychommead · 28/10/2010 15:33

Faaamily I love your list.

alexisfaith · 28/10/2010 15:43

Spike, from your photos, really really suits his name! I think Iggy for sure.

Manda25 · 28/10/2010 20:49

Iggy or Buster gets my vote

jerseyshore · 29/10/2010 00:19

I have an Iggy and if I had another boy and a different surname I would go for Spike. Iggy and Spike. Loovely.

Floopy21 · 29/10/2010 09:18

Baxter?

Huxley. Hux for short sounds pretty cool IMO.

SweetnessAndShite · 29/10/2010 09:27

What about Dexter?

From the suggestions already make I think Sonny or Ralph would be great.

thell · 29/10/2010 13:17

Damn it! Was about to suggest Bruno, but no 'o' sounds.

Brodie?
I'm not normally one for surname-names, but for some reason I like this one.

BTW Your son is Gorgeous!!
