Prefer Levi. If Lachlan would pronounce Lachlan not Lochlan

Sunlightdances · 25/10/2010 19:55

Prefer Lachlan - would pronounce Lochlan (had no idea it could be pronounced differently!)

Haliborange · 25/10/2010 19:58

Lachlan, but tbh that's because I really don't like Levi (no idea why though).

I'd pronounce it Lachlan.

idobelieveinfairies · 25/10/2010 19:59

Lachlan...pronounced Lock-lun.

MoppingMummy · 25/10/2010 20:01

Prefer Levi

onimolap · 25/10/2010 20:17

Prefer Lachlan (pronounced Lochlan)

kiwijesta · 25/10/2010 20:18

Lachlan, spelt this way.
All the best!

nigglewiggle · 25/10/2010 20:21

Lachlan pronounced Lochlan.

Good luck Smile

NeverGhoul · 25/10/2010 20:23

Levi is a great name. Tends to associated with the jeans though which is unfortunate. An otherwise lovely name.

SlummyMummyAndProud · 25/10/2010 20:48

Lachlan is pronounced as it is spelled.

For the pronunciation you have suggested it would spelled lauchlan or lochlan

clpsmum · 25/10/2010 21:11

Yes I really like Levi but know lot of people will associate with jeans and that puts me off a bit. Not sure which spelling I like best and which would be easiest for child to cope with throughout life Lachlan, lochlan or lauchlan ???

What happened to Leon clpsmum! I know its a completely different name, but how about Lorcan if you're worried about the spelling / pronunciation?

buttonmoon78 · 25/10/2010 23:03

Levi.

Lachlan makes me think of that curly haired fella who played Henry in Neighbours. Sorry.

clpsmum · 25/10/2010 23:45

Leon still a strong contender really like it but my mum out of the blue ( not mentioned Leon to her at all) yesterday made the comment 'as long as you don't call it Billy, caleb or leon' three names I love and had sort of agreed to call it Leon if it's a boy but not sure I'm brave enough now

ThighsWideShitItsAGhost · 26/10/2010 00:16

I think Levi is dated. Like Lachlan though.

Love Leon too

HTH Smile

SmacsGotABigWitchyWart · 26/10/2010 00:21

Lachlan, Lachlan, Lachlan Grin
but only if you can ccchhh properly
don't bother if you are going to say lock lin
chose a different name

vicbar · 26/10/2010 00:27

I really like Lachlan, Levi makes me think of Levi Roots and his sauce.
Mums are great at putting spanners in the works arent they. we really couldnt decide for DD3 liked Sophie and my mum went loco at the hosp as a relative she doesnt like has the same name and she said she would never call her sophie. We didnt and everytime I look at DD3 I dont feel she 'is' her name.
Mum also hated DD1's name I ignored her and now she tells everyone what a beautiful name it is and she chose it Hmm

scottishmummy · 26/10/2010 00:31

scottish name is LACH-lan.like levi too

scottishmummy · 26/10/2010 00:38

what are you planning to pronounce lachlan as?can you do the Chhhh- soft la long Chhhh soft lan

ooooozathon · 26/10/2010 00:59

YY please only go for Lachlan if you can say it properly!

It's an 'a' sound but a soft one, not as bright as 'cat', more like the a in 'after'.

My DH (English) promounces 'Glasgow' with a bright 'a' like 'cat' and it drives me round the twist

ooooozathon · 26/10/2010 01:00

Oh and good luck if he pops tomorrow! x

scottishmummy · 26/10/2010 01:08

only lachlan if can say it properly.mispronounced celtic names are really bad

if you are set on lochlin go for laughlan instead

mathanxiety · 26/10/2010 02:32

Laughlan looks too like laugh.

nooka · 26/10/2010 04:03

I'd stick with Leon!
