Ollie.
Oliver is nice, although I think it's pretty popular atm. Second on the list in 2008 I believe.

LoopyLoupGarou · 21/10/2010 22:12

Ollie. Love it.

yummymummie1 · 21/10/2010 22:22

I really like Oliver and would use Ollie. Lovely.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/10/2010 22:24

Love Olliver but hate Olly and Ollie, sorry.

sleepyhorse · 21/10/2010 23:15

yes i think i agree and prefer it spelt Ollie. So do you prefer Oliver or Ollie? (sorry just wondering what the general feeling out there is!)

I love the name even though it's very popular. Ollie, not Olly.

Skyrg · 22/10/2010 00:50

Are we talking about the name the child is called by for daily use, or the birth certificate? Definitely Oliver on birth certificate so he has a full name. Up to you what you call him, personally I think for a baby and young child 'Ollie' is a bit gentler.

Also, link to popularity: www.statistics.gov.uk/specials/babiesnames_boys.asp

yes its very nice, and i like olly!! although oliver is very popular atm!

sleepyhorse · 22/10/2010 22:09

I don't think its that popular. Its the same issue as with jack (supposedly no 1 most popular name) - how many Jack and Oliver's do you actually know?? I know 2 Jacks and 1 Oliver.

Skyrg · 22/10/2010 22:24

I know 5 Jacks, at least! Struggling to think of any Olivers I've met though..

Partyof52010 · 22/10/2010 22:27

My nephew is an oliver. I think its a lovely name. Not overseud either. Only prob is my S-I-L was adamant that he would never be an Olly. Now 10, all his friends call him Olly and he asks all of us to as well. Its only his parents who refuse. S-I-L does best cats bottom impression whenever he is addressed as Olly in front of her. So make sure you're happy with any shortenings!!

Oliver or Ollie. Both OK, pass tghe Prime Minister test but not wildly exciting. Not offensive either. Classic.
