Hi all
my DS is now 2 weeks old and remains nameless. I like Joseph but DH likes Euan. We also have Michael and Tom in the mix.
Can you please tell me if there are millions of Euans especially in Scotland as we are moving there.
Which should we go for? Help!!!

Tom is a lovely name - classy and timeless

Michael is mike which is not so nice

pooka · 21/10/2010 20:37

Well I'm very keen on Tom and Joe. I have one of each Wink Not so keen on Joseph, but perhaps that's just because it doesn't flow with our surname so well. Also seems more biblical IYSWIM, which is so not us.

Love Euan too - though I do know quite a lot of Euans here in London. Not sure how common it is in Scotland.

Not so keen on Michael. Not sure why. Bit dull - but then I'm sure people would say that about Joe and Tom as well. :)

Other names we had in the running: Alex(ander), Christopher (Kit), Peter, Jake

LauraNorder · 21/10/2010 20:39

Love Tom, unfortunately it is our dog's name so we couldn't use it Sad - should have thought that through a little better!

2cats2many · 21/10/2010 20:41

Well, seing as me and DH have decided not to have any other children, you can have my favourite boy's name if you like......

Daniel (or Dan the Man for short).

Bloodberrybatbait · 21/10/2010 20:41

I love Joseph, Euan is more likely to be common in Scotland.

Vine · 21/10/2010 20:42

From your list I like Michael the most - not as many young Michaels as Toms. Prefer Euan to Joseph.

RockBat · 21/10/2010 20:44

Euan is lovely. So is Michael. Mike is questionable but Mikey more than makes up for it. Congratulations btw :)

CakeCuresAll · 21/10/2010 20:47

I like Joseph.

Euan is very common in scotland. I know a a fair few.

My DS was nameless until day 5. I spent each day calling him a different name to see which one fit - it's not easy so you have my sympathy.

FimboBBINGFORAPPLES · 21/10/2010 20:50

I prefer the Ewan spelling.

Tom
Joe
Sam

AgnesBrown · 21/10/2010 20:52

I have a Michael, He is known as Holly though Blush

We pronounce it the Irish way Me-Hol which is where the Hol/Holly comes from.

LisMcA · 21/10/2010 21:35

Euan is 52nd on 2009 scottish boys names list with Ewan at joint 50th. Combined spelling would bring them up to 20th. I know of a couple of new baby Euans.

I think Kit is a smashing name, read a character in a book with that once, and always envied the originality of it, without being too off the wall.

thell · 29/10/2010 13:34

Kit is short for Christopher too, if you wanted a long version [hsmile]

BiscuitBob · 29/10/2010 13:42

I really like Joseph (or Joe), although I've known too many Joe's to use it myself!

Sam is nice too.

QuoththeRaven · 29/10/2010 13:45

I only know one Ewan (im in scotland) and that was my ex. Lovely name, shame its spoiled for me

Komondor · 29/10/2010 13:47

Thomas is my favourite.

frakkinstein · 29/10/2010 14:04

Christopher aka Kit is fab.

I like Michael or Joseph. Euan is v popular...
