Wilfred doesn't go with our surname really, but I LOVE it... Thoughts?

My friend loved Ichabod, thankfully her DP vetoed it :-)

BelligerentGhoul · 30/10/2010 14:56

I think Wilfred is due a revival - I am finding myself liking it more and more.

3thumbedwitch · 30/10/2010 14:57

I like Wilfred best of the three.
It doesn't have to be nn Wilf, you could have Freddy or Will instead.

lovechoc · 22/11/2010 19:25

Not keen on Wilfred, or Arthur ( I know an Arthor!). I love the name Reuben (but I'm a tad biasedWink)!

freerangeeggs · 22/11/2010 20:22

I love Reuben but it will always be the name of the man who ruined Black Beauty'd knees...

pippylongstockings · 22/11/2010 20:28

Wilfred is a great name! A nice strong name with a cool nickname of Wilf - I know several and they all carry it off with style.

Arthur is also a great name! But not so keen on the nn Art.

Rueben is ok but not as good as the others.

flopsy1974 · 22/11/2010 21:15

I watched a programme about Wilfred Owen around rememberance day. Thought it was a pretty cool name but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to use it if we ever had any more kids.

hulabula · 22/11/2010 21:42

Wilfred is awful, I really don't like it.

Arthur is quite trendy.

Ruben is my favourite.

MissMashMissMash · 22/11/2010 21:46

Love Arthur and Rueben. Wilfred is unusual and I quite like the nickname, not sure if it is too unusual though

MissMashMissMash · 22/11/2010 21:47

meant to type the nickname Wilf

zozzle · 22/11/2010 23:24

Love Reuben, not keen on others (both v. old man) although nn Wilf does sound strangely cool - bit mad inventorish!

zozzle · 22/11/2010 23:25

Although nn Art is cool.

MelinaM · 22/11/2010 23:27

All three are lovely, love the nn's Wilf and Arty! x

smaych · 23/11/2010 20:58

Absolutely love the name Wilfred. Reuben is lovely too :)

CDMforever · 23/11/2010 23:14

LOVE LOVE LOVE Reuben!! Suggested it to DH when pregnant with DS2. Didn't go down well. What do they know?!

AphraBen · 24/11/2010 00:35

I think Art is a nice name and Will or Wilf but not the longer versions, sorry.

I do like Reuben.

cloggs142 · 24/11/2010 16:31

All gorgeous names......but i gotta say...Reuben is the winner as its what im planning to call my son :)

ShoppingDays · 25/11/2010 17:50

Reuben. Don't like the other two, sorry.

lilly13 · 26/11/2010 19:37

Love Arthur for Anglo-Saxon surnames.

Love Ruben for hispanic surnames (it is a common name in the USA, though)...

ThatllDoPig · 26/11/2010 19:39

All lovely.

I think my fave is Wilfred. Could be Wilf or Freddie.

minipie · 26/11/2010 19:48

Arthur. Art is cute.

Wilfred is an awful name (IMHO).

Reuben is ... ok.

ShoppingDays · 26/11/2010 20:49

LOL @ Arthus!

Rufus?

agirlcalledvicky · 29/11/2010 15:05

Ooooh you have great taste in names - all ones we considered for our DS Grin

I loved Wilfred but we too dismissed it as did't go with surname (begins with a W too and I thought the alliteration was too much). Reuben is lovely but very popular round our way.

We went for Arthur in the end and LOVE it, we always get nice comments - no one has said they thought it was "terribly self conscious" and "trendy" - see previous posts! Its just a nice name I think. Smile

ebrookm · 29/11/2010 15:27

I love all three. Good luck choosing!

AllieW · 10/12/2010 11:37

I love them all. We've just named our son Arthur Henry, so obviously Arthur is my favourite. Wilfred is my second favourite.
