Sorry, I don't like Maia.

But I do like Juliet, if that's any help?!

phipps · 16/10/2010 16:16

I think you will confuse people as it isn't obvious how to pronounce the name and people will then wonder how to spell it.

rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:17

We could always spell it maya or maya.

OP posts:
rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:17

But I rememebr a thread not so long ago, where evryone siad they thought Maia was the 'correct' way to spell, hence why we chose tis spelling.

Maia is not confusing, it's just a name. If people don't know how to pronounce it they will ask.

I don't think it really matters what second name you choose unless you are planning on a double barrel (DON'T!)

phipps · 16/10/2010 16:18

Just my opinion, spidookly.

rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:22

Lol no double barrels for me. Yep I agree we won't be using the second name very much at all. But wanted to choose a name we both did agree on, and then one which people won't raise their eyebrows to, too much. I personally thought Maia was quite common now, so didnt think there would be too many pronounciation problems.

spidookly · 16/10/2010 16:24

People won't raise their eyes at a middle name. Middle names are for hiding away awful family names you don't want to inflict as a first name.

MardyBra · 16/10/2010 16:28

I think the 3 syllable ones work less well. Depends on how long your surname is.

rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:38

3 syllables is the surname

OP posts:
MardyBra · 16/10/2010 16:38

2+3+3 is quite a long name IMO.

Good luck whatever you choose.

rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:42

my name is rachel elizabeth and then my surname, which has never caused any problems. Mainly I wanted to see what people thought was best out of my middle name choices??

OP posts:
nicnacinoonoo · 16/10/2010 16:46

i like callie, sienna and brooke. brooke is my little girl's middle name Smile

rachxx · 16/10/2010 16:51

Thankyou very much nicnacinoonoo for actually giving a choice :)

OP posts:
nicnacinoonoo · 16/10/2010 17:09

Fredfred · 16/10/2010 17:14

I like
Maia Sienna
Maia Brooke
Maia Scarlett
:)

NiceCuppaT · 16/10/2010 17:27

like Maia Juliet best

MardyBra · 17/10/2010 12:40

Fine. You asked for an opinion and I said I preferred the shorter ones. Sorry I spoke.

MardyBra · 17/10/2010 12:44

Actually ignore me. Probably being a bit premenstrual.

SoupDragon · 17/10/2010 12:45

Maia Tallulah is utterly dreadful, don't go for that one.

I think Juliet is the nicest middle name.

rachxx · 17/10/2010 12:48

lol mardybra sorry if I came across a bit meh :)

Ahhh maia tallulah is actually on top of the list...is it really dreadful then? (I promise I wont moan, whatever the answer!!

OP posts:
sleepyhorse · 17/10/2010 12:52

rachxx - don't listen to anyone....

Maia is one of the most beautiful girls names around (and great way to spell it). If I had had a girl it would have definately been on my list.

I like:

Maia Brooke
Maia Sienna

Ineedsomesleep · 17/10/2010 12:55

Prefer Maia Juliet. DD nearly got named Juliet but DH changed his mind at the last minute.

Really don't like Maia Tallulah, sounds like a stripper and Maia Brooke, Maia Callie or Maia Sienna.

MardyBra · 17/10/2010 12:59

Ah rach - sorry. Just living up to my nn. Brooke is my fav to go with Maia, although I like all the others with the exception of Tallulah (trying too hard).
