What do you think?
Too 60's sounding?

Pauline. It's a mum's name from the seventies. Awful. Ugly. Sorry.

FlyingInTheCLouds · 14/10/2010 18:45

it will be one of the names used for your grandchild!

5DollarShake · 14/10/2010 18:51

Way too soon for Pauline.

And I don't mean 'too soon' as in 'you're ahead of the curve and you've got your finger on the pulse of the zeitgeist'. I mean too soon as in - Don't Do It.

:)

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 14/10/2010 19:00

Before I did my Halloween user name I was PaulineCampbellJones - the character that BunnyLebowski has referenced. Don't do it!!
I like Paulette though, there was a very chic girl at school with that name.

freerangeeggs · 14/10/2010 19:02

Objectively I think Pauline is very pretty but it's so outdated that I would never use it.

Give it a few years.

DeadlyNightShadeofViolet · 14/10/2010 19:07

It makes me think of Pauline Collins (as in Shirley Valentine)

I actually prefer Shirley.

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 14/10/2010 19:08

NO
My mum (65) was called it and changed her name as soon as she was able to as even then it was utterly old fashioned and too dreadful.

It remains so.

Crazycow00slevin · 14/10/2010 19:08

Yeuch no, no, no. With all the gorgeous names in the world you could call your daughter why choose a name that has a boys name at the beginning.

Janoschi · 14/10/2010 19:08

I like Pauline a lot. Solid name, not so prettified. And Polly makes a great nickname. I also like Pamela and Pat but obviously I'm in the minority!

openerofdarklymoulderingtombs · 14/10/2010 19:15

It kind of makes me wonder if the parents were hoping for a boy and had their hearts set on Paul, but made the best of it by sticking to the name they had chosen. I always wonder the same about poor Nigella.

Plus, League of Gentlemen. Brr.

mathanxiety · 14/10/2010 19:19

I really like it, and also Paula, Paulette. I see it as old fashioned French, so somewhat stylish.

I sort of like Pamela too, Janoschi, (but not Pat).

BrainMash · 14/10/2010 19:22

No.

biggerfeetsmallerboobs · 14/10/2010 19:23

No, it's my MIL's name. 'Nuff said.

melodyangel · 15/10/2010 13:25

I know two Paulines both lovely but both hate it! So I would say no, but if you love it then go for it.

fedupofnamechanging · 15/10/2010 14:54

Foul. Sorry

LetThemEatCake · 16/10/2010 00:30

what biggerfeet said.

I can hear her voice saying it on the telephone

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGHHHHH

besides which, is not a very nice name, really. Lots nicer out there, old fashioned or no
