Alecia or Alexia

As we are ttc I'm thinking of names already. Some have reacted negatively to the name Danielle but I also love the names Alecia and Alexia

Also would you pronounce Alecia like Alee-sha or
Alees-eya?

Thanks x

Isn't it spelt Alicia (A-li-cee-ya or Al-ee-cha) or Alesha (Al-ee-sha) ?

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 13/10/2010 09:19

Alexia

savoycabbage · 13/10/2010 09:28

I have a friend with a Alexia and one with a Alecia pronounced a-less-ee-a. I have known Alecia for two years and I am just getting to grips with her name. For some reason I find it difficult to pronounce. It stops me interacting with her as I am never sure how to say it. I like unusual ames generally, but I think it's important that people know how to say them.

Yummygummybear · 13/10/2010 09:29

I like Alexia as it can be shortened to Lexi

JennySuperB · 13/10/2010 10:24

Lexi is good. I once knew a girl called Alethia.

sparkleshine · 13/10/2010 10:29

Oh thanks for that Cheesypineapple Blush kinda puts me off now.
I love Lexi as a nn though. I guess it works alone.
Not keen on Alexandra to shorten it from. Any others it can come from?
Not thought of it spelt Alicia but it looks better. (thought of it from a girl at my old school)

Thanks x

I like Alexandra and Alexa (no "i")

SweetBeadieRussell · 13/10/2010 11:07

what's wrong with Alexandra? It's a real name, unlike the others! (biased)

vess · 13/10/2010 11:16

I like Alix - it's an old form of Alice.
Wonder if people will think it's some kind of 'creative' spelling though.

minipie · 13/10/2010 11:19

I'd prefer Alicia or Alexa - Alecia and Alexia look a little bit made up to me...

I did know an Alessia (Italian name) if you like the sound of that? Pronounced how it looks.

Thissideofchannel · 13/10/2010 11:21

I have heard Alicia pronounced both Aleesha and Alissia, so it depends on your preference.

I prefer Alicia, Lexie and Alexa over Alexandra as the latter will often end us as Alex...

AlexiaMumsnet · 13/10/2010 11:57

Wow, that's an interesting meaning... Hmm I prefer this one Grin

I'm usually referred to as Lexi or Lex by friends

sparkleshine · 13/10/2010 15:43

There's nothing wrong with Alexandra. I like the name but my cousin has called her daughter that with nn Alex so can't use it. Well don't want to. So was thinking of a name simliar but different.

So far I love, Alicia, Alexa, Lexi or Lexie

xx

Alexia or Alexa I would go for instead of Alicia, definitely! :)

vinvinoveritas · 13/10/2010 16:08

Alicia (a-liss-ee-a) or Alice, or Alexandra, or Alexa

Silkstalkings · 13/10/2010 17:17

Would avoid anything that could be screeched "Aleeeeeeesha!!!"

Rather like Alexa, like the model/it girl Alexa Chung.

chickentwizzler · 13/10/2010 17:28

Alicia like, but only with the spelling Alicia. Love the shortening Ali.

Alexia love, and especially love the shortening Lexi

Lexx · 15/10/2010 20:46

I would pronounce Alecia "A-leh-ssia" however prefer Alexia, Alexa, Alexandra or Alexis (me!) Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 15/10/2010 21:14

I like both Alicia and Lexi.

I would pronounce Alicia as Al-iss-ia

If I wanted Al-eesha I would spell it as Alysha, a girl I went to school with spelt it that way.

Both really lovely names :)

Spookberries · 15/10/2010 21:23

Much prefer Alexa, Alexia, et. al
