Posted about the name Arielle, but the replies I have got about it are generally that it is a bit Disneyish, and I'm starting to think it's a name with no substance.

What do you think of the following...

Nataline
Gianna (is this too much for someone who has no Italian links whatsoever?)
Waverly
Carmella
Adrianna (ay-dree-AR-na)
Ramona (too much for no Spanish links?)
Marina

I like Carmella or Ramona best of your choices.

Waverly (with slight variation on spelling) is a railway station in Edinburgh.
Marina = boats/Last of the Summer Wine.

I think that Gianna is a bit too Italian, and I'd pronounce Adrianna as Adri-anna. Waverly to me is also a train station, not a name.

I think all the others are fine. A little bit interesting without being off the wall.

Nataline - don't like it Natalia is nice though
Gianna - not without Italian links
Waverly - station
Carmella - Sopranos
Adrianna (ay-dree-AR-na) - too much
Ramona - love it, no Spanish links required IMHO
Marina - No

Nataline -- don't like, but like Natalie and love Natalia
Gianna -- LOVE, and I don't think it's too much for a non-Italian at all
Waverly -- It's a brand of upholstery fabric afaik
Carmella -- prefer Carmel; Carmella is Sopranos for me too
Adrianna I would pronounce it ADD-reeanna. Ok name, but maybe too fluffy...
Ramona -- This name makes me think red light district, or cheap 1930s flop house for some insane reason
Marina -- I think this might make a lot of women think about the coil (mirena). It's a lovely name, but...

I like Renata much more than Ramona. I also like Giada, meaning Jade.

I like Carmella and Ramona, agree with others that Natalia is better than Nataline (never heard that one myself!), would probably go for Maria rather than Marina. Or Miranda would be nice too.

Psammead · 08/10/2010 11:24

I like Gianna.

jkklpu · 09/10/2010 20:46

Are you a Sopranos fan?
Marina is a lovely name; Gianna fine, too, though Giovanna might be more recognisable in the UK. Don't like the others at all (some aren't even names)
