my brother...?

Brifely mentioned this to my step-mother who said ' you can't do that, children need there own name..'Hmm

I love my wee brother's name and it really suits our surname.

This may well be pointless thread as it could be a girl.

What does everything think...?

you know it took me a while to realise/remember when reading this thread that my niece is named after me.... ConfusedBlush. We don't seem to have any problem understanding which Jollster is being referred to at any one time.

FWIW she was due to be Katherine J, but there were too many Katherines named at the time she popped out, hence having it swapped round.

I think it's a lovely thing to do.

I am named after an aunt and a lot of female forbears -- no problems here either.

I was thinking of naming my son after my older brother but I don't really feel like I have that right. He's desperate for a family himself yet he hasn't met the right woman yet. I have decided that I want to give my son (if it's a boy) my brothers name as a middle name so that if my brother has a son he can choose to name him after himself which is a bit of a tradition in my family. So much so that once my brother and my dad went to visit my dads cousins in Ireland and there was 4 of them in the same room with the same first name and surname, very confusing. :)

I will of course ask his permission first.
