Indigo Sky

Ok ok - you win, Beauden is out. But now I really need your help - baby due any day now.

How about Indigo Sky for a boy? Any better?

I like some of the suggestions but nothing really appeals.

I like soft sounding nature names like:

Aspen (too much potential for teasing)
Cypress (too much like Cyprus)

Can't have Forest or River or Winter which I like.

So, I have listened to everyone but now I have no name. And baby might be born any time.

Help.

DD2 would have been Rowan Ashley or Rowan Asher, had she been ds. Maybe I am a try-hard hippy after all! :)

Rowan and Rohan are lovely I agree.

Not Inigo though, unless you want him to have The Princess Bride quoted at him every five minutes, certainly if he goes to the States.

ChequeredFlag · 01/10/2010 20:44

How about Kite?

Fennel · 01/10/2010 20:55

DP and I wanted Inigo for dd1. Perhaps luckily for her, she was a girl. I'm not sure we'd have gone through with it.

There are lots of hippy nature names round us in yurt valley. Indigo would fit in well.

MrToad · 01/10/2010 20:56

DP has a very very unusual hippy-ish name, he hates it, spends his whole life repeating/ spelling it to people and explaining why his parents gave him that name.

Please think twice about giving your baby a very very unusual name!

Skyrg · 01/10/2010 21:14

I think that works the other way MrToad, I hated that my name is so common and I was never the only one! Just made it not feel like 'my name', iyswim. I would much much rather have an unusual name.

arizonagirl · 01/10/2010 23:07

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Think you have all put me off Indigo for a boy - I think I agree now that it is more a boy's name.

Do like Skyler and Rowan but dh doesn't. Inigo doesn't really appeal. I guess baby will just have to stay baby for a bit longer although I can't seem to see us finding a name we like and agree on. My husband suggested Coast earlier after someone suggested it with sarcasm. That does sound rather ridiculous.

I really want a name which is soft sounding, has connections with nature and has an 's' sound in it. I only say that because I realised tonight that all the boys' names that I like (but are too over the top) all sound similar:

Aspen
Atlas
Atticus
Chance
Cypress
Cyrius etc etc.

Thanks folks for helping me. I will get there soon - I have to!!

Ash?

jem1980 · 01/10/2010 23:36

How about Logan (meaning: "hollow")?

arizonagirl · 02/10/2010 01:10

jem1980 - you are so on my wave length. We have a little Logan already and I love his name Smile. Any more great ideas?

When I clicked on post I thought it was a cute girls name.

Ashton?

janajos · 02/10/2010 08:25

What about Jorin a friend of mine used it for her son, it means 'child of freedom'. Very unusual and boyish, iyswim. I actually quite like Indigo.

Habbibu · 02/10/2010 09:22

How about Innes or Ennis, meaning Island? I love Innes, but was vetoed.

BrokenRing · 02/10/2010 10:17

Indigo is still good for a boy -

NN Indie

SadFatUberBitch · 02/10/2010 10:30

Chance? Just, NO

I usually bowl up and do sarcastic things, but I'm scared to in this case as I think you might actually end up with a child called Arthritis or Plunger

catinthehat2 · 02/10/2010 10:42

If you like Logan, what about this list?

There's quite a few unusual names with naturalistic meanings that could appeal.

thisisyesterday · 02/10/2010 10:52

arizonagirl... have you ever used nymbler?

you might get some good suggestions from that

Astrophe · 02/10/2010 13:34

onadietcokebreak - I was about to write that too.

What about Ashton? Could be Ash for nn.

dizietsma · 02/10/2010 16:02

Atticus is a fine name, wonderful literary connotations too. Unusual, but most people will know how to spell it from the book.

Atlas will make everyone think you love Ayn Rand, which I sincerely hope you don't, or that your want your son to be some kind of body builder.

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2010 16:03

Isn't Indigo Sky an M&S Clothing range?
Anyway I do actually love the name indigo for a girl

MrToad · 02/10/2010 21:35

Atticus is a great name! Also like Jorin as suggested by Janajos.
