We have decided on Violet, what do you think of Amity as a middle name? Sister to Rose Honor.

I don't think the 2 go well together. Saying them out loud, they don't seem to 'flow'. imo.

I wonder if it's the T and A, or the T and T , but it's just violetamity viole tamity

erm iyswim Grin

sadly agree with HQOW... but such lovely names separately... :)

Violet Hope
Violet Mercy

MrToad · 30/09/2010 20:53

also agree that the two names don't sound right together I'm afraid. How about:

Violet Celeste
Violet Maude
Violet Niamh
Violet Maeve
Violet May
Violet Pearl

oh and Violet Esme is nice!

FourEyesGood · 30/09/2010 20:56

Amity? Makes me think of Jaws (set on Amity Island) and Amityville Horror. So, sharks and gore... Sorry!

Skyrg · 30/09/2010 21:02

They do end up becoming one word. Seems to be too many Ts. What does your surname begin with? Please don't say G :)

CharlotteSo · 30/09/2010 21:10

Begins with S :)

My other idea was Violet Evelyn.

I discovered Amity on Nameberry today. It means friendship which I like.

Have you considered two middle names? Something like Violet Lucy Amity S_ flows better, imo. Violet Amity ends up as 'Viole Tamity' when I say it.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 30/09/2010 21:13

violet evelyn is better.

Faaamily · 30/09/2010 21:14

Violet Amity isn't good. Especially next to Rose Honor, which is lovely.

DastardlyandSmugly · 30/09/2010 21:22

I know it means friendship but also just reminds me of the amityville horror

CharlotteSo · 30/09/2010 21:37

I'm starting to think maybe everyone here can't be wrong! Wink I either have strange name taste or I am just running out of ideas.

Violet's good though isn't it???

If you like the meaning "friendship" you could use:

Lieve (Dutch, means dear friend)
Alden/ Elden (from old english meaning old friend)
Cara/ Careen (beloved)Ruth (friendship)
Anisa (Arabic meaning friendly)
