So here's what I've got my hormonal heart set on thus far,

Boys

#1 Seth Angus

Albert
Dexter
Gregor
Henry
Leonard
Rufus
Stanley

Girls

#1 Audrey, possible Mae or Blythe as a middle name.

Edie
Ingrid
Margot
Martha

We already have a son named Noah Winston and have yet to find out the sex of current bebe (although I intend on doing so).

Our surname begins with A, is 4 syllables, very Scottish and also a popular boys forename. I don't know if an alliterative forename sounds cool or ridiculous...but I did originally have Alasdair and Agnes on the lists and have discarded both as they don't seem to 'scan'. Audrey and Albert sound fine though (IMO).

All thoughts and opinions welcome...

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/09/2010 16:07

I love Seth Angus. They were both on our list for DS (he ended up being Fergus). Also like Rufus and Stanley

Audrey is pretty and Blythe is gorgeous. Also love Martha

LetThereBeRock · 28/09/2010 16:08

I love Seth Angus. Great name.

I hate Albert,Dexter,Leonard and Stanley.Henry is ok,and I love Rufus.

I'm not very fond of your girls names. And certainly not Margot.

mathanxiety · 28/09/2010 16:09

I love Audrey Blythe -- gorgeous.

For boys, I have to say the name Seth reminds me of snakes hissing. I would prefer Gregor, Albert or Henry.

minipie · 28/09/2010 16:27

Boys

#1 Seth Angus - like both, esp Angus

Albert - nice
Dexter - nice
Gregor - not so keen. Gregory fine though.
Henry - nice
Leonard - not keen. Leo/Leon great though
Rufus - LOVE this name
Stanley - Ok, bit "of the moment"

Girls

#1 Audrey, possible Mae or Blythe as a middle name. - All lovely

Edie - love
Ingrid - love
Margot - love
Martha - it's ok. bit frumpy.

badcoverversion · 28/09/2010 16:34

Thanks for the feedback so far...nice to see that most of the names are getting the thumbs up at least.

Just to clarify...although I'm not usually one for nn's, Leonard would definitely be shortened to Lenny. Big fans of many Leonards/Lenny's inc. Cohen, Bruce and Rossiter. Not Lenny bloody Henry mind...the big daft get.

mathanxiety · 28/09/2010 17:15

Lenny is very nice.

Bradyboo · 28/09/2010 17:34

I love love love Leonard. I wanted to call DS2 Lenny but doesn't go with Louis!

theagedparent · 28/09/2010 17:41

Leonard and Audrey are lovely

Ineedsomesleep · 28/09/2010 17:53

Seth Angus, do like but if it was me I'd choose Angus Seth

Albert - love
Dexter - I wouldn't choose it.
Gregor - same as Dexter.
Henry - Love.
Leonard - Love.
Rufus - Love but if you live in the North West like me he'd have to toughen up pretty quick.
Stanley - love.

Girls

#1 Audrey, love but for some reason Coranation Street always comes to mind before Tautou or Hepburn.
Edie - too much like Evie.
Ingrid - ok
Margot - Love
Martha - too popular for my taste.

Minione · 28/09/2010 17:58

Love Seth Angus!

Love Audrey Blythe!

We live in Salford...so yes, perhaps Rufus should be thrown on the backburner until we up sticks or something. It was my original choice for DS (now 2 years, 7 mths) mainly due to my unhealthy fascination with young Mr Wainwright.

...and Audrey Roberts is far classier than the French bird or her what was in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The inspiration for Audrey actually stems from Little Shop Of Horrors being my favourite film as a wee one.

I didn't realise that Martha was a popular name these days...you learn something new every day!

...and I do like Angus Seth but feel that Seth Angus works better with our surname.

Smilehighclub · 28/09/2010 18:18

Of your boys list I LOVE leonard, Henry, Rufus.

Girls: Audrey is fabulous! The others are ok too but Audrey is gorgeous.

Ineedsomesleep · 28/09/2010 18:22

Didn't mean to have a go at Audrey Roberts, I think she is fab Smile

Ineedsomesleep · 28/09/2010 18:28

Love Angus too, if only I could talk DH into DC number 3......

pointydog · 28/09/2010 18:31

#1 Seth Angus - prefer Angus as first name. Seth is farmer/weirdo

Albert - old man from London town
Dexter - new kid on teh block
Gregor - prim Scot
Henry - prim
Leonard - a littel sleazy
Rufus - rruuff
Stanley - see albert

Girls

#1 Audrey, possible Mae or Blythe as a middle name. - outdated

Edie - like the sound of this, like the sound of Edith
Ingrid - german
Margot - good life
Martha - a bit apron and apple pie

smother · 28/09/2010 20:15

#1 Seth Angus - nice and refreshing somehow, even though I wouldn't use the name myself... it's growing on me as I type actually....

Albert - like this, esp Bertie
Dexter - ooh no
Gregor - like this - why is it so much nicer than gregory?!
Henry - don't like (hooray...)
Leonard - like and the most original I think
Rufus - like a lot, prob my favourite of your list
Stanley - like a lot

Girls

#1 Audrey, possible Mae or Blythe as a middle name - really lovely, Mae is a bit over-used at the moment, Audrey is fantastic

Edie - yep, love this, although quite popular
Ingrid - love this too
Margot - ooh yes, really really like this one
Martha - the most popular on your list but I love it nonetheless... and it's NOT frumpy!! it's beautiful!

but don't listen to anyone here, go with what you love!

DuelingFanjo · 28/09/2010 20:17

Stanley, Edie and Martha are my favourites

smother · 28/09/2010 20:17

Actually, on reflection, my fav boys' name from your list is Seth or Stanley

BelligerentGhoul · 28/09/2010 20:18

I like Gregor, Edie, Martha and Ingrid.

Sunlightdances · 28/09/2010 21:41

Love all your boys' names except Rufus - I think it's because I knew a dog called Rufus once...

I think of Audrey as quite old-fashioned, but looking at your other names, that seems to be what you're going for! I think Blythe is far more unusual and interesting for a middle name - I love it. Margot will always make me think of The Good Life. Grin

Ineedsomesleep · 29/09/2010 14:26

Actually Gregor is growing on me.

gallicgirl · 29/09/2010 18:50

I like Seth but I hope you don't live in an area where people tend to pronounce th as f.

I also love Audrey. It might sound old-fashioned initially but I think a little girl would grow into it IYSWIM

I really like Ingrid too (might pinch it for my list Wink)

allbie · 30/09/2010 10:45

Lovely names, every one of them!
