Love Patrick. Not so mad on Paddy.

littleoldme · 21/09/2010 19:50

Hadn't thought of Patch as an NN. I like it.

Love it - don't think Paddy is derogatory.

simpson · 21/09/2010 21:00

DD's (2) little friend is called patrick and it really suits him Smile

I really like it.

Ineedsomesleep · 21/09/2010 21:03

Quite like it. Thought that this name might get popular, have you been swooning over Patrick Jane as the Mentalist by any chance?

littleoldme · 21/09/2010 21:13

I've never come across Patrick jane but if he is as tasty you imply I may have to google!

Mine is nearly 19, we call him Packie (an old Irish shortening) and his friends call him Pat or Pa (also an Irish shortening). Mostly Patrick though! It is a great name to yell after a runaway toddler Smile

Hassled · 21/09/2010 21:27

I love Patrick. DS2 was nearly a Patrick. The Patrick I know is usually Pat or Pattie.

emmyloo2 · 21/09/2010 21:41

Absolutely love it. I wanted it on our list but dh said no. I think it's a fab name and I actually like Paddy as a nickname.

arsesandoldlace · 21/09/2010 21:46

Yes, lovely. This is on my list for potential future DS (also love Patch as nn, may have to steal). Smile

Iwantscallops · 21/09/2010 21:47

Love it! DS 2's middle name.

taczilla · 21/09/2010 21:58

My ds would have been Patrick I am Irish and it would only be derogatory if someone called me Paddy or a Paddy. If you call your own child child Paddy it isn't derogatory as I imagine you'd love him!

NotanOtter · 21/09/2010 21:59

my friend called one of her triplets on my recommendation (bless) she calls him Patch

Casmama · 21/09/2010 22:06

I love it and was really disappointed my dh vetoed it for ds. I hadn't thought of Patch for a nickname but its really cute.

littleoldme · 21/09/2010 22:21

I love the name Patrick, gorgeous. Grin

My DS has it as a middle name & I still get a terrible pang when I hear the name as I regret not using it as a first name :(

I liked Paddy as a NN too, though he most likely would have been Pat or similar :)
