In this order

Toby - great name, not that many of them
Jake - great name, loads of them
Luke - perfectly good name but not one I'd choose.

StreathamHillary · 17/09/2010 12:48

All lovely.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/09/2010 12:48

my personal preference - Toby, Jake, Luke

babysoon1 · 17/09/2010 14:03

Is Jake really that popular? Never seems to be mentioned in top 20 lists?

Toby is a brilliant name. Jacob / Jake i think will jump up the top 20 list due to the Twilight books.

liliputlady · 17/09/2010 15:12

Luke my favourite by far!

Ephiny · 17/09/2010 15:14

All nice names, though to me Jake sounds a bit more like a nickname than a proper given name. Maybe the same is true for Toby (is it short for Tobias or something?) though for some reason it sounds more like a name in its own right to me.

FranSanDisco · 17/09/2010 15:16

Luke is the best. Jake is OK. Toby is OK.

NormanNorris · 17/09/2010 16:10

Luke as the others are not full names. Tobias would be my fave.

jellybeans · 17/09/2010 16:22

Toby - not that keen
Jake - love it but so many of them school age
Luke - love it, the best of the 3

BelligerentGhoul · 17/09/2010 16:28

Luke, Luke, Luke.

But I like Tobias/Toby too.

ByTheSea · 17/09/2010 16:29

I like them all very much. You and I must have similar taste in boy's names.

Manda25 · 17/09/2010 16:39

I have a Jake/Jacob (20 yrs old ) Damn the Tweenies for coming along ....

and a Toby/Tobias (8 yrs old) ...so my vote is for either of them (secretly I prefer the name Toby) ...not keen on Luke at all

Manda25 · 17/09/2010 16:55

I just asked Toby - there are no JakesJacobs in his whole school and Jake never went to school with another Jake.

FakePlasticTrees · 17/09/2010 18:03

Toby if it's really Tobias.

Yorkshiremum · 17/09/2010 18:34

We had all of them on our list so I like them all but went for Luke. I think I would gor for Jacob/Tobias with Jake/Toby as the shortened version if it was me but that's just me preference.

I liked Luke as it couldn't be shortened to an abbreviation I didn't like (eg. we loved the names "James" but I had an ex called "Jim" so wouldn't have wanted to use that version!) but as it turned out we end up lengthening Luke to Lukie within the family - strange!!!!!

babysoon1 · 20/09/2010 09:57

what about a middle name to go with Luke or Jake? (not Oliver or Edward)??
