Oscar?

Had my baby boy today...... (he's gorgeous, obviously)

Still haven't decided on a name for him.

One of the mw's suggested Oscar and it's one of the very few names that myself AND Dp haven't automatically rejected.

So I'm thinking about it. I quite like it, still not 100% sure though.

What do you think?

Really like!
I know two Oscars both lovely but the name is popular.
But I still like it!
Michael Mcintyre does a funny joke about calling son Oscar too.

happywheezer · 15/09/2010 22:39

And many congratulations! Obviously he is lovely!

Skyrg · 15/09/2010 22:40

Congratulations!

Oscar was 30th in 2008, think it's increasing in popularity. I know one child called that and knew a dog called that too!

I don't like it personally, (partly because I associate it with the dog) but I don't think it's awful or anything! Not many nicknames though.. Oz?

simpson · 15/09/2010 22:40

I really like it too Smile

Well done on your new DS.

clarabellarocks · 15/09/2010 22:56

Congratulations. I think it's very cute. Trying to think of historical oscars and there is of course Oskar Schindler who was rather amazing.
Don't know any Oscars.

Skyrg · 15/09/2010 23:01

Famous Oscars:
Oscar Awards

Oscar the Grouch (Sesame Street)

Oscar Wilde

NormanNorris · 16/09/2010 00:40

I really like it. Congratulations :)

diddl · 16/09/2010 07:45

Love it, love it, love it!

I always wanted 2 boys-Oscar & Felix & I probably would have done it if I´d had 2 boys & a husband who like both names.

Did I say I love it?

And congratulationsSmile

Bagpusstree · 16/09/2010 08:09

Yep yep, I like it lots.

Congratulations!

anonymousbird · 16/09/2010 08:14

Well done, I quite like Oscar, but quite a lot around now.. but if you like it, go with it.

You can safely assume Jools Oliver WON"T be calling her DS Oscar so you are free of any accusations of jumping on the sleb bandwagon (not that you would, naturally, but born the same day, someone somewhere would be BOUND to say it..).

Congratulations.

diddl · 16/09/2010 09:12

The Olivers have called their baby Buddy.

anonymousbird · 16/09/2010 09:16

Oh, how ridiculous.

a) B O are his initials

b) Bully (H)olly-ver. It's just too silly for words.

Mind you, not a whole load of brain cells going on there Confused, much as I love him of course!

lifeas3plus1 · 16/09/2010 09:19

Well it seems to be a well liked name.

Originally I did want a name that wasn't so popular but at this very moment in time, finding a name that Dp and I can actually agree on will be brilliant. Lol.

Thank-you all.
