The full name would be Bunny Matilda Wright, both of these names are from my nans.
Genuine opinions would be grateful.

Some people will think the name is silly but i think it works quite well.

I don't like the name Bunny, sorry, and she will get all sorts of rabbit jokes.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 09/09/2010 23:06

Please don't call your Child Bunny, Matilda is lovely though. Smile

said · 09/09/2010 23:07

Will Rabbit be her Sunday name?

cece · 09/09/2010 23:08

I am just thinking of the teasing she will get as a teenager with a name like Bunny. Please don't do it. Middle name yes but not as a first name.

WetAugust · 09/09/2010 23:11

You'd be condeming her to a life of jokes about her name - that's cruel

TheNextMrsDepp · 09/09/2010 23:13

Imagine her as a lawyer or a doctor, or just attending a job interview; not sure Bunny has gravitas or credibility as an adult name I'm afraid.....maybe keep it as a nickname.

cloudydays · 09/09/2010 23:31

Not trying to gang up since people have already said it's not nice, but as you've asked for honest opinions, I think Bunny on an old lady (your grandma) might be a sweet nickname, but on a young girl / woman, it sounds like a stripper's stage name. Sorry. Blame Playboy.

TheOldestCat · 09/09/2010 23:33

Matilda is lovely.

Bunny makes me think of ill-fated BBC soap 'Eldorado'. And not in a good way.

winnybella · 09/09/2010 23:35

Matilda- great.

Bunny- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Please don't.

madhattershouse · 09/09/2010 23:36

Reminds me of Bunny Maloney...too much kids telly!!

cloudydays · 09/09/2010 23:37

Could you think of a "B" name you like, Barbara, Briana, Bonnie, Baily, Beatrice, Bridget, Bernice, Bethany, Beverly, Benita...

Not saying all of these are to my taste, but any "B" name that's an actual name she could use later if she chose, would allow you "Bunny" as a nickname.

Of course you could name her Alexandra or Zoe and still call her Bunny as a child. Family nicknames are great like that!

DuelingFanjo · 09/09/2010 23:39

I really dislike the name Matilda. quite like Bunny but maybe as a middle name?

DomesticG0ddess · 10/09/2010 09:45

Love Matilda, although I think you would have to like Tillie too, incase people started shortening it. I actually know a 3 yr old Bunny, but honestly I think it is naff.

weepootle · 10/09/2010 10:21

I know a baby called Bunny but I'm not too keen on it tbh. Love Matilda but I'm biased.

TessOfTheBurbs · 10/09/2010 10:43

Really, no.

The Matilda doesn't make it better; she will just be known as Bunny Wright. Most people she meets won't know what her middle name is.

Matilda Bunny if Bunny means so much to you? Or maybe Bonnie - Bonnie Matilda?

I think it's one thing to choose to go by a "silly" nickname yourself if you feel like you're a "Bunny" kind of person, but another for it to be your official first name and be on all your official documents and forms so everyone calls you it by default. She might not want her grumpy headmaster to call her "Bunny", or to introduce herself to business associates like that.

Headbanger · 10/09/2010 10:47

It's hard enough to be taken seriously as a woman in most of life's major professions without being saddled with something whimsical like 'Bunny'. Sorry, but it's true.

Matilda is nice. And there are lots of lovely nicknames that can come from it.

5DollarShake · 10/09/2010 11:02

Oh for heaven's sake!!! You knew what everyone was going to say surely?!

Bunny was your nan's nickname, right? Why not use her real name?

If you must, must, must saddle your daughter with the name Bunny, why not assign it as the middle name? She can still be known as Bunny by you all on a day-to-day basis.

And lastly, what Headbanger said. Come on!!

Rockbird · 10/09/2010 11:03

Oh ffs please be serious. Some people should be banned from naming children Hmm

5DollarShake · 10/09/2010 11:07

To add, I'm currently sleep-deprived, dealing with a newborn, so my post has probably come over way too harsh - apologies for that! I really would urge you to give your daughter a fighting chance in life the ability to choose if she wishes to be known by such a whimsical name.

EleFunTess · 10/09/2010 11:08

No. It's a silly name. She will grow into a woman with a silly, fluffy name. Don't do it.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 10/09/2010 11:12

Bunny - you can't inflict that on a child, unless you envisage her career as a centrefold in Playboy or turning tricks down the local pole dancing club.

Tootlesmummy · 10/09/2010 11:14

Sorry but I don't really like either nam but Bunny is awful, really sorry.

nickelbabe · 10/09/2010 11:16

Bunny was most definitely not your nana's full name - it would have been short for Elizabeth or something else.

Matilda's nice.

Could you try to find out what your nana's full name was and use that?
