The full name would be Bunny Matilda Wright, both of these names are from my nans.
Genuine opinions would be grateful.

Some people will think the name is silly but i think it works quite well.

I love the name Matilda, with the nn Tilly.

Sorry, but I really do not like the name Bunny.

If you want both names could you consider reversing them and using Matilda Bunny?

atmywitssend · 10/09/2010 20:08

Seriously, Bunny?

Matilda is very nice.

Bunny I think sounds like a nickname for something. The only Bunny I ever knew was called that because of her front teeth.

Might work better the other way around?

Or yes, Bonnie is a nice name, might be a good compromise?

I see OP has not returned, is she having a larf??

Housewife2010 · 10/09/2010 22:19

Did anyone see the 60s film "Bunny Lake is missing"? It's very good.

ozmetric · 11/09/2010 12:47
Biscuit

Perhaps she could have a completely different first name and have Bunny and Matilda as middle names in tribute?
I have the same dilemma as my grandparents (who were wonderful and who I really want to name my babies after) names were Ralph and Joan but didn't want to lumber them with such old-fashioned names.

BuntyPenfold · 13/09/2010 20:00

According to my MIL a buny is a sanitary towel

kat2504 · 13/09/2010 20:22

Bunny might be sort of cute for a baby girl but imagine having a serious career with that name. Solicitor, doctor, chief exec? Would not be taken seriously. Cue crude Playboy jokes etc.

On the other hand, Matilda is an old fashioned name which seems to be making a comeback. Tilly is quite nice for short.

too playboy

CommonSenseSuze · 13/09/2010 21:54

Bunny is ridiculously awful. You wouldn't even want that as a nickname.

Matilda's very dreary, but if you're set on one of those names go for that!

AuraofDora · 13/09/2010 21:59

bun for short? Bunny is big no
matilda is cool, sharp, sassy not dreary at all
this is a joke, yeh?

hatwoman · 13/09/2010 21:59

to me Bunny is a posh family nickname - generally a patronising one given to the littlest girl who is destined to be treated like the littlest girl for her whole life. or at least until she gets herself a husband and gives up the pretend secretarial job to get on with the real job of brood mare.

my gran had a close friend called bunny, she died 15 years ago or so.
it was only after she died that i realised that the lady i called 'aunty bunny' was actually called Alice.
I think she was the youngest of a lot of girls (so i was intersted in hatwoman's comment) but she never married.

rain1014 · 15/09/2010 16:08

I could never take anybody seriously with a name like bunny.

Lexx · 23/09/2010 18:09

Bunny would be a real mistake....I always imagine a name on a CV. Would you interview a Bunny? Why don't you call her Matilda and use Bunny as a middle name if you are set on it?

SoupDragon · 23/09/2010 18:10

that is an absolutely appalling name to saddle a child with.

KERALA1 · 23/09/2010 20:34

Even with the family connections as a reason I still wouldnt do it. It has absolutely no redeeming features. To think of a perfect little newborn being saddled with Bunny. I adored my grandmother but she would have been horrified if I had used her name for dd as it was a pretty dire name. Nowhere near as dire as Bunny though.

BunnyLebowski · 23/09/2010 20:35

Oi you orrible lot. Angry Angry

No but seriously it's a woeful name for an actual human being. Don't do it you mentaller.
