So - Got a little man on the way in ten weeks time! Wish he would hurry up now - I'm over the pregnancy thing now.. !

So, I am toying with the following, please be honest and let me know which you prefer:

Freddie
Francis
Sonny
Alexander
Dennis
Laurence

I guess I could combine a couple... It's such pressure deciding on a name for a human being, isn't it? x

Of your choices I like Freddie best Grin. Nickname for Frederick tho IMO. Don't have to call him that ever!

I agree in future yrs there will be lots of Alfies, Archies, Billys etc.

Alexander is pretty popular - I know a good half a dozen under 11. There were two Alex Smiths at DS1's nursery! (mind you that's a while ago)

Dennis sounds like a 60yo, sorry. Like Trevor and Brian.

Laurence is quite funky with good nickname potential. Laurie my fave in a nod to Little Women.

Clary · 10/09/2010 21:57

Just to be clear - Dennis is similar to Trevor and Brian. I do not like the names Tervor or Brian; well not on a child atm anyway.

pointydog · 10/09/2010 22:01

Freddie - no, too nice but dim
Francis - don't like it for a boy but do like the female version. It's just a bit scrubbed and Catholic so I wouldn't feel it was for me
Sonny - no, too fashionista
Alexander - I like Alex a lot
Dennis - I really quite like Denis. I think the nickname Denny is great.
Laurence - ok. Laurie is ok but a bit girly

pointydog · 10/09/2010 22:03

The more I think about it, the more I realise that Denis (Denny) is a fantastic name.

Although I would still go for Vincent (Vince)

verybadhairdoo · 10/09/2010 23:03

Alexander is lovely. Sonny and Dennis and Freddie def not

pointydog · 10/09/2010 23:04

oh c'mon.

Denny. Think about it.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 09:20

I like Denny. AND Vincent. But I hate Vince.

pointydog · 11/09/2010 11:51

ok. Let's stick with Denny and Vincent then.

lowrib · 11/09/2010 14:33

Denny's great

pranma · 11/09/2010 14:59

have a dgs Francis known as Frank or Frankie-it works really well in all its versions-would be good with Alexander or Laurence too.

AngryPixie · 11/09/2010 15:17

I love Dennis (tis' ds1 middle name and if I knew I was going to have ds2 I might have kept it)

But then I love stanley too so perhaps should not be trusted Grin

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 11/09/2010 18:21

Stanley is a fine name, Pixie. I considered it for ds, 10 years ago (only mention the 10 years to demonstrate that I lied it then and still like it now).

pointy is so very right - Denny is excellent. I hadn't thought of that as a diminutive - my freinds Denis is Denny, but that's because he's French (so obv. more a duh-nee).

Denny is effing brilliant.
