We think we have decided on our son's name but I'd like your opinions...I just don't know if I'm brave enough to go with it even though I love it! I'm worrying that (although I've liked it for years) I might go off it in a few years and it might sound dated as I think it is becoming fashionable again...

ok, so my first choice name is Milo. Middle name would be Patrick after my Dad and our surname is one syllable.

I am worrying about what others will think of it...so waiting until he arrives to stop relatives putting me off the name with comments such as 'Milo? Where did you get that from?' Or 'Isn't that one of the characters of that kids show...?'

Possible stand-by names are Leo or Max, though i think Max would be too short and I don't absolutely love it, just quite like it.

Opinions Please!

We actually came across Milo when watching first series of 24 - used on an adult! (there was also an actor in Heroes called Milo - this now sounds like we watch too much TV!)

Milo on an adult didn't seem wierd at all to us but I suppose I can see how others might think it was bit more childish compared to Miles. I do like Miles but I think one syllable may sound too short with a one syllable surname. Wouldn't it?

He could always refer to himself as Miles if he decided to? Or would you do it the other way round, call him Miles officially (on birth cert etc.) but always use Milo? Decisions...decisions!!

I originally suggested Milo, and now DH loves it so much he's not really considering the alternatives...So the decision may already be made!Smile

There is a Professor in something called Milo[I forget what]

I used to love Milo as a kid then I got older and learned all about the nestle thing so don't have it in the house anymore.

Not so keen on the name. I liked the other poster's suggestion of felix!

Patrick is lovely.

chainedtothedesk - I sort of see your point about Patrick, but 6my^ Patrick absoulutely loves that there are other Patricks in the family, it's his dad's second name, it was his granddad's anme, and he can go through old photographslooking for other Patricks. He certainly doesn't seem to feel any less unique for having a family name. So don't completely dismiss the idea. Just think of Patch as a nickname for a baby! Mine was patch until he was about 5 - it was compeltely adorable!

Love it, go for it.

And don't tell anyone until he arrives!
