i've settled on the name Amelia Rose for our dd who is due in november.

i always wanted to use the name Jane, as its my mums name, but my sister used it for her dd's middle name (her dd is 15 months if that makes any diffrence)

wibu to put Jane in my dd's name to? so it would be Amelia Rose Jane

what do you think?

I think it would be fine. Could you mention it to your sister? I think the cousins would like having a name in common.

Yes, horribly unreasonable, the children will get very confused, they will not know who is who and their sense of identity will be messed up forever.

Even if you both called your children Jane as a first name, nothing bad would happen.

My full name is my cousin's middle name. So for example (not using real names as cousin is on here too I think):

My name : Grace Emily XXXXX
Her name is: Louisa Grace Emily XXXXX

Our names are all family names and it never bothered me because full names are hardly ever used anyways.

Absolutely fine and so lovely paying tribute to your Mum (a classic name too) - I think your sister would be unreasonable to mind.

I thought you meant because of Enid Blyton's Amelia Jane.

I think cousins having same middle name after the same grandma is a lovely idea. I wouldn't think it was a great plan for first names though.

i didnt think i was being unreasonable, but i know some people get upset about names (fwiw, if someone was to use one of the names we've chosen, i wouldnt care!) and my sister can get funny about certain things. i think i may broach the subject with my mum and get her to talk to my sister [wimp emotocon] my mum can always smooth things over!

I think Amelia Rose is a lovely name. Adding Jane to it makes it even better.
