Alice and Beatrice?

Hello there

Currently 7 months pregnant with a girl and having a bit of trouble coming up with names (husband and me can't seem to agree).

Already have one daughter - she is called Alice (middle name Isobel). The one name we both agree on and really like is Beatrice. However, I'm a bit concerned about the similarity in sound between Alice and Beatrice (the 'issss' sound at the end).

Would appreciate views on this - do the names sound too similar or am I worrying too much? Can you think of any nice alternatives to Beatrice that 'go' with Alice??

Thanks!Smile

I think they're ok together, and I'm sure Beatrice will go by Bea most of the time?

Alice and Beatrice go lovely together.

Beatrice was top of my list of names (ended up with 3 boys so never got to use it!).

What about Beatrix instead or shorten Beatrice to Bea. I don't think it matters that much though that they do have a similar sound in common.

Thanks for the views folks... I think I might be over-thinking things re the names 'going together', been going round in circles with names for a month or so now.

Good to have some balanced views!

Beatrix is nice, but not sure I like it quite as much

I like Beatrice and it sounds fine with Alice IMO.

I think Alice and Beatrice sound like a good fit IYSWIM.

In terms of alternatives: I know two Beatrice's under 5 with sisters called Elizabeth and Imogen.

I don't know any Alice's in RL which is surprising I think.

I have an Alice and considered Beatrice for baby two as I think they go really well together and are quite similar types of name - I hadn't really considered that they sounded alike. As it happens I am expecting a boy but should I have another girl I think we would definitely think about using Beatrice.

They both sound quite "royal" names so other royal names might fit too.

They're fine together and Beatrice won't necessarily be called Beatrice, unless you have strong feelings about that.

I love both of them - Alice was top of my list (and so was Isobel, spelt that way Smile) if we'd had a girl.

Thanks ladies... Looks like we might have decided! Now just have to think of middle name!
